Storage Card for use with 350D

Featured Replies

I should be getting one of these soon and wondering which card to use with it? I've settled on using at least a 1gb CF card, but understand that Microdrives can also be used?

Are there any people using MicroDrives? Are they quick enough to write to? There's a 2.2gb MicroDrive available from Ebuyer for around the same price as a 40x 1gb CF card, so presume there must be some downsides?

Any recommendations or advice would be helpful.

Cheers

microdrives are far too slow

you really should use something 133x for best performance sandisk extreme 3 is very good

I wouldn't trust my valuable pictures to something as mechanical as a microdrive. I'd stick to memory cards.

Do not use μdrives, especially ones with a capacity of 2.2GB.

Now that Lexar have sorted out their "issues" with their 80x cards, any brand name cards will be just fine. Look for 80x or higher.

You might find two more useful.

I'll take some and save some to the spare card, saves accidentally deleting them all etc ;)

I have a SanDisk 1mb fo0r my 300D and it's ore than up to the job, even when quick consecutive pics are taken

Would also join the chorus advising against microdrive cards, there are too many reported problems.

As regards card size, I wont use anything bigger than 1 gig. If something does go wrong, you lose less. I also dont go for the very fastest either as I wont make much difference to me.

I've got a 2GB card and a 512MB card. The 512 stored 308 pics at the weekend on max jpeg setting and the 2GB stored over 800 and still had space left. The 512 is a basic Jessops card and the 2GB is a 50x Kingston card and to be honest, I didn't notice much difference in speed and was using the continuous shooting alot too.

Just wondering if you can 'flag' saved pics on the 350D, to prevent you accidentially deleting them. Don't tend to delete until I download them to the PC, but I know my current Nikon Coolpix enables you to mark the photo so you can't erase it on the camera.

Also to echo, certainly the 300D card speed is not an issue as it's 4 fps to the camera's buffer...a little fact a user did a test and no speed difference was observed.

Now the 350 may of evolved, but I suspect you may save a few quid *if* it's the case and sadly I suspect your salesmen will just nod, my local camera shop did at this point.

I carry a 512 MD, 1Gb CF, 128CF and 64CF...you never know ;)
