Door protection.

Featured Replies

Well with the 20% discount at superskoda, and considering I already had £10 in my paypal account, I decided to order the door side protectors as I only had to find £38. I can at least offer them up and see how they look ... get them colour matched if need be, or sell them if I don't like how they look.  :nerd:

Haha !

I was actually thinking why has no-one designed something like that !

Be great for short term use ... like ferries or particularly tight parking bays.

Only possible downside (OK even more paranoia) is someone could try to steal them and cause even more damage not realising they have a tether !

When I park in a space that's tight I put my hand on the door so that my fingers protect the other car from being damaged, sometimes it bl**dy hurts ( note to self -must loose a few pounds). I also don't drop litter or spit gum onto the pavement.

Weird or considerate, make of it what you will.

Don't think those lengths of pipe insulation (without the hole) would still be there when you came back to the car.they would be stuck on a lampost by some idiot that thought it good fun.

They're secured by a wire and ball that stays in the car. I guess they could rip them off and potentially damage the car in the process, just as they could rip your mirrors off, let your tyres down, take your wipers off etc etc.

Dings are the least of my troubles. Just been out on the roads. Now got a small paint chip on the back door edge below the window. Touch up on order as non in stock (Rallye Green). Polished over for now. Will prob need a smart repair to look right

Argh, the bugger that parked next to me at work has christened my new Octavia this morning. Just went out at lunch and noticed quite a significant scratch down my door, exactly where his door would open. He is in another company on a different floor, don't know if I should confront him.

Take a picture of both cars (use a mobile phone) so as to show the damage and how it was caused, as well as registrations.

Then speak to him politely and explain the situation.

Hopefully he will be honest and offer to rectify it. If not ask for his insurance details.

If he refuses, I am sure the reg number will enable you or your insurance to track his insurers, and make a claim against them.

as everyone as said where ever you park some one will park at the side of you

Me though don't give a monkeys about it!....dented on all sides smashed at front ....don't care about it ,,,,but on the other hand when I go out I just squeeze it in anywhere,,,the advantages of having a battered mk3

I agree… unfortunately it's the only way to educate people into not being careless at others expense.
