Haldex oil change cost?

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps, just thought i would see what people are paying for the oil change in the Haldex gubbins on their 4x4/Scout? i've called Simpsons Skoda in Preston and they wanted £169!! seems rather steep for an oil and filter change.

Can anyone let me know what they pay or if they know of anyone in preston/Lancs area that can do it/ is good?

thanks in advance

Can't remember off the top of my head but it was a lot less than that at an indie - I think I [paid about £50 or so but will try and check.

FL and are FL are different systems so the cost may vary too.

I paid £125 in May of this year for a Haldex oil change, of which £23 was for the oil, the remainder for labour. Another nearby Skoda dealer was charging the same.

After reading some of the prices quoted on here I contacted Skoda UK who stated the price charged was about right.

Yup, mine is the preFL (haldex gen2) version with the filter, just looked through my old service docs i got with car and the last one was done at £54 (though from a dealer 100 miles away)

Update! Spoke to Simpsons in Colne and they want £58.47 they'll even collect it from my work - lovely. Booked in. Job done! Makes me think the lady in Preston didnt understand when i checked it was haldex oil not the engine oil, hmm...

That's much more like it! I paid £59 for mine at Progress Skoda in Letchworth. :)

My local main dealer costs are £40 for Labour (about 35 mins) and £18 for the oil. The filter came in at £29 on top of that.

If they are asking for about £60 then I would check that they are changing the filter too and not just the oil. The 1st dealer I spoke to quoted just over £50 but was adamant there wasn't a filter to change.

I would guess a pre FL octy will come in at about £40 more than a FL Octy or yeti with the additional cost of the filter and extra labour to change it.

Heh, DM Keith Leeds quoted me £200 for the Haldex change, not that I was going to pay it as my indy quoted about £50, so I will definitely question it with them when it needs to go in for it.

I checked if there was a filter and they said not. Mine is a pretty facelift 2008 my car they checked on the system against the reg and said it was just the oil... Anyone have any ideas? Its booked in for next tuesdsy so I have some time.

I believe that the gen 2 haldex in the pre FL car does have replaceable filter but Erwin doesn't say it should be changed. Haldex gen 4 systems doesn't have a replaceable filter.

I think all Facelifts have Haldex 4 which doesn't need the filter changing. I can't find the post on how to definitively tell which version you have though. I think it's readable in a VCDS scan though.

£60 for my 2008 Scout back in October.

Seems odd to have a filter that is not replaced...

Gearboxes normally don't have for filters though.

My local skoda Garage Quoted me £180 To change oil in my gearbox for my vrs

Why did you pay them? It's not really a difficult job.
