That sounds good, I have painted the exhaust silencer with high temp black paint as I didn't like that you could clearly see it at some angles from the side. (Can see it in second pic). May use some of it over the chrome tips when it starts to age when i get fed up of autosol, id imagine it would look great with black badges!

What did you use for the silencer painting and how did you do it? Did you paint the the pipe tips of the exhaust too?

I used 'Cylinder black' high temperature paint, doesn't need primer and leaves a satin finish. Just did the silencer box and the chrome cover bit that extends forward underneath from the cosmetic exhaust to enclose the twin pipes. Didn't do the twin pipes as couldn't get at them too easy, I suppose I might do the rest of it to preserve it.

Could find any threads anywhere about it, so just went ahead and did it, can only protect the box from the elements anyway. Just had a 4 hour drive and it's fine.

The silver bottom of the silencer doesn't stand out when looked at from a distance at the side now

Here's a pic from below (edit on iPhone so sorry for the bluntness)

And I suppose the ASDA supermarket is on the right, just out of shot....

;):)

I would think there's a great big building that takes in Norwegian Oil on one side and lots of money coming out the other!

And an Asda!  :D

Finally picked up my Metal Grey Combi from the dealers today 3 months after placing the order. Very happy so far in the 50km I driven it for.

Nice one, metal grey is such a good colour :)

Cheers Mence, it was the colour I picked out straight away when ordering but I nearly changed it a few times but very glad I stuck with it!

Just got mine home  :sun:

vRS Tdi - Thought some of you might be interested to see one in Moon White and with Silver Gemini wheels. Anyway I'm pleased with it and looks a bit different. Moon White (or Glacier if it's an Audi - exactly same paint code) is a very subtle metalic - you can only really tell in direct sunlight, but very nice when you can see the sparkly bits - looks good under street lights too.

I didn't choose this combo - just needed a car quick so took what stock SUK had. Still took 4 weeks to get to me from Emden!

Ordered end of March collected 30th April.

The car also has Sunset glass and Amundsen Nav. Had a fight with the dealer about the Nav - he wanted to charge for it as it wasn't standard when the car was ordered, although it became so the following week. In the end I got it for free (because SUK didn't charge the dealer for it) post-129436-0-75360400-1430819704_thumb.jpg

Very nice, looks good on the 18's with sports suspension, I tried to change my order from 17's to the same setup but left it too late and couldn't change. What dealership did you get it from?

Mine after spending 5 hours washing, waxing and sealing the paint and alloys!! The arch gap on yours is good bit smaller than my standard one!

Very nice looking....I picked mine up the same day but it hasn't stopped raining since so no chance for photos!...In fairness mine is a fairly standard looking race blue RS hatch with black pack the only visible outside difference and with it being a company car it'll have to stay that way...Love it though and love the way it drives

Best of luck with yours!

5 hours well spent, looks very well. I really like the colour, looks well when washed!! I bought in Park Motors on the Navan Road, all in very good service, would deal with them again. Took a bit longer than expected to get the car but they kept me up to date!! Where did you purchase? I'd been into a few different dealers and some were better than others to say the least!! Whats the ride like on the 17's. I find the ride on the 18's fine, grand on motorways and decent roads, can be harsh on very bad roads but nothing worse than previous cars (was in Donegal over the weekend on some pretty crap roads but didn't bother the car too much). I'd imagine the ride on yours must be pretty decent if I find mine fine?

Best of luck with yours too!! Yeah it seems to be raining constantly these days!! I was very nearly going to get a VRS myself only I wanted to get the DSG gearbox and the VRS DSG was pushing it a bit for me!! Nice company car, you'll certainly enjoy more than a similarly priced mondeo or passat!!

Looks good when it's clean alright! Bit harder to keep clean compared to silver but I've had silver cars for the last 9 years so fancied a change! Got it from Sinnots in Wicklow, found them to be very good so far anyway. Find the ride very good, it's a lot firmer than I'm used to as a daily driver but it's certainly not harsh at all, been driving Landcruisers the last 11 years so can't really compare the two. The Octavia has decent amount of torque but the gearing is a lot higher than the Landcruisers which used to pull cleanly in 6th gear from pretty much any speed so biggest change to get used to is having to drop down to 3rd in the Octavia to be able to pull out of corners the jeep would've done at the same speed in 6th!!
