Panoramic Sunroof

Featured Replies

A bit like having a windshield above your head :-)

Most objects that hit your car come from the front. I assume you don't worry about having a windshield in front of you, so why would you be concerned about glass above?

  • Here's some more pics to help you make up your mind. I definitely don't regret getting it.

  • Better even than I had expected - and I have had sunroofs on almost every car since my Austin 1300 at uni in the 1970s. With that area of glass, I was slightly worried by internal temps, but, even wi

It does have some safety benefit too though (bearing in mind the seat belts are partly there to prevent you being expelled through any of the windows in a crash) - if your car is suspended upside down from a helicopter with you in it, after being stolen by some evil superpower, you can coolly open the sun roof and parachute out. It could happen - it did to a man I met in a pub once.

He was quite drunk though.

I have been in other cars where the sunroof was equally costly, but a huge disappointment, so I do understand the hesitation in optioning one. This one is like a practical convertible in giving that "airyness" to the car.

From a safety aspect, maybe you could look at the aspect of if the doors we somehow wedged closed, and there was fuel everywhere, its easier to smash the sunroof and pull people out, than bring out a cutting device that will likely introduce heat/spark to the wreckage....

TBH though, if the car is in that bad a state, I dont think it matters either way!

According to my dealer they have seen very little difficulties at all on the ones delivered. How it is down the line with leaks and so on is difficult to say of course. I just love mine as it feels like a totally different car to me.

According to dealers no problems with anything ever.

Can anyone think of anything where dealers are not in total shock and disbelief that anything has or ever could go wrong.- They will certainly never heard of any thing going wrong before other than faults caused by silly owners.

Love it in mine, especially as the VRS has a black headliner, makes the interior much brighter and less claustrophobic. Only opened it fully a few times as the sun glaring in my eyes isnt something I like, however I often have it on tilt, just close it for motorway use due to noise.
One thing I didnt like on the estate compared to the hatch was that the glass was in the roof in the traditional style as opposed to the roof being all glass, so I had the rest of the roof wrapped in metallic black vinyl (matches the black pack mirror covers & grill surround) and it looks so much better.

Was offered a ridiculous deal on a Mazda 6 SportNav but it felt very claustrophobic as it too was all black inside but as there was no pano roof option, I went back to my 1st choice and other than the fuel consumption & dim witted DSG/TDI marriage, am really pleased.
