My Octy Elegance short review with plenty of pics =)

Like the 'canvas' tray in the boot, included in the spec or an optional extra. Have seen it before in other pictures but not here in the UK.

Car is great by the way :)

Wow the sunroof is awesome!

As previously posted earlier this week (here) I was pleasantly surprised with the arrival of my 1.4 TSI Elegance more than 3 months ahead of schedule. It's been a few days now since I brought her home and the words to describe my impressions so far would be PURE AWESOMENESS! Comparing to my old Mk1 this thing is nothing short of a spaceship to me.

Engine

Very smooth, quiet and powerful. Puts a smile on my face when I step on it even in top (6th) gear.

Columbus

Very responsive, simple to use and just looks amazing! It loads an usb or SD card quicker than my laptop. Already imported a few albums on the internal memory (Jukebox). Plays FLAC files without a problem. Sat nav is superb, bluetooth works flawlessly and voice control makes all the functions even easier to use.

Colour maxi-dot

Another fancy gadget which I love. All the information one could wish for at your fingertips. Works perfectly and together with the Columbus unit looks marvelous.

Canton

At first I wasn't impressed but what a difference in just a couple of days! It already sounds like a €400 well spent and I'm sure it's going to improve even more with time.

Panoramic sunroof

Super cool! Even bigger than I imagined it to be and the opening is huge. The electric sunshade makes it look even cooler.

Xenons + back/front LEDs

Literally like day and night comparing xenons to my old halogens in Mk1. I think I'm sold for life with these. Love that little dance (left/right, up/down) they do at startup. The LEDs of course are a very nice touch to the whole package. The car just wouldn't look the same without this IMO.

Apart from all this fancy gadgetry there are numerous other things I'm impressed with like:

- good handling and minimal body roll (remember I'm coming from Mk1)

- lots and lots of space

- very comfortable seats (lumbar support is great)

- coming home/leaving home function with mirror downlighters

- footwell lighting (looks classy)

- no rattles/squeaks whatsoever

- Topaz Brown (best colour for Elegance IMO) - looks so nice together with chrome window surrounds and silver roof rails

- Denom alloys

- double-sided boot mat

- ... could go on and on :giggle:

Overall I couldn't be any happier with my choice of 1.4 TSI Elegance. I've spent a lot of money on it since I'm planning to keep it for around 10 years. Hopefully it will serve me as good as the old one did!

TL;DR: My new 1.4 TSI Elegance is PURE AWESOMENESS! B)

So here she is - in all her beauty and glory! ;)

(I did my best with the photos but I'm no photographer...)

Much appreciated!

Makes me feel like I made the right choice of colour, this looks fantastic. I think the topaz brown looks quite plain and inconspicuous in the most attractive and elegant way. Which is exactly what I was going for. :)

Though mine will be with black window line and rails.

Yes it's also an extra option. Can be wrapped up and stored or just slided in under the roll-up luggage compartment cover.

I really like that too! :)

Do you have the part number by chance  :wonder:

Great photos on the link - congrats on the car!

Great car PekoSI, congrats :) Have a happy driving and ownership!

Again and again when I see a car equipped with the Columbus and I want it. Didn't order it though, as it was EUR 1600 too much for me and for that money went for the 1.8 TSI estate...and still waiting for it!

Doesn't your Elegance include some partial leather in the interior, or it is just the handbrake and the steering wheel? Also you seem to have ordered the simply clever kit (multifunctional box, phone holder, garbage bag etc.), could you please report how usable it is?

Your colour looks very nice and it fits with the chrome package...aargh did I say I can't wait for mine to arrive ?!

Skoda offer quite a choice of interior options but your importer decides what they feel will sell in their market or fit within a given budget.

Just wish we could have full access to everything mind, rather than being given the importers choices, which often in the UK anyway are very limited.

Congratulations, great choice of engine and options. Drive safely and enjoy it for a long time.

Did some search on ETKA and I think I found it - 5E9867708

It's either this or the partition net housing (not sure) - see here (number 22)

Just in case you only need order number - it's 'PL3'

The only leather I have is at the back side of the front seats - for easier cleaning. Will come handy in next years when kids start kicking around on the back seats...

Edit to my last post: Forgot to answer about the simply clever package. Media holder - nice and useful for shorter journeys, I'll be using the phone box with boosted signal for longer rides. Waste bin - still unused but the main advantage I see in it would be the fact it uses disposable plastic bags which can hold a lot more waste than a conventional built-in waste bin. Dealer told me however that only one bag comes with the package and that's it - you can't even buy them. They searched around and found some that fit but it's not a perfect fit. Will have to check one day. The third and last thing that comes with the Simply clever package is double-sided boot mat which is great IMO. Not sure what you mean by 'multifunctional box' though?

Oh and yes, steering wheel and handbrake do have leather too of course - I think that's standard in all Mk3s anyway isn't it?

Chrome window surrounds... No fair! :( Car looks great and nice choice of options :)

Have to agree the 1.4 is a super engine, your photos look really good.

I really do miss the side pockets in the boot I had in the Fabia and notice you have one on the right of the car - which I presume is standard.

Side 'pocket' is standard. You get one on each side normally but only one with Canton because of the sub.

We only get one in the UK, on the left without Canton or the right with. :(

None at all if there is a variable floor as well.

True, I'd like them on both sides, they're so much more useful than the old type in the mkII.

Thanks for this excellent post, PekoSI, you are really lucky to have the car delivered in such a short timeframe! I wish we had the sunroof as an option for the estates here in Hungary - I would have definitely gone for this extra too!

Nice pictures - is it the Triglav mountain in the background of your car somewhere near Bled?

Enjoy your new car!

I've also thought about this, but it seems strange how the factories could cope with, say, 20 different countries' demands for standard specs...

Anyway, you're right about the options, for example the vRS here loses a lot of options, which I see equipped here on the forum...and also most of the wheel options are only photos and pictures for us :) Nobody at the dealership gave me a reasonable explanation, the  only answer I got was "these wheels are country specific" !? :)

That is strange. Maybe you can get your local dealer to install the other one?

No Triglav would be a 45 min drive away. Bled as well. The mountains in the background are still part of the Alps, the highest one on the photo is Planjava.
