Enabling cornering fogs with VCDS - updated for vRS

Featured Replies

Teardrop wipe is when the wipers give an extra wipe a few seconds after the washers have been used and the wipers finish doing their stuff, this wipes the dribbling screen wash away.

Personally I hate it so have it disabled, but we are all different.

  • Just checked, they do both come on when I put it in reverse which is not a bad idea especially when you are reversing out of a tight spot and the front swings at a large angle!

  • I  now have 2 rear fog lights - an absolute doddle!   I'm posting the adaptations in a minute.   Why Skoda dealers can't get their head round this is beyond me ............   http://www.briskoda

  • Nice work lads. Shame the same can't be said for Skoda UK   So as originally thought, instead of simply activating the cornering fogs during manufacture, Skoda UK have instead decided to issue a rev

Neily03 now has cornering fogs on his vRS.

As well as

Rear Teardrop wipe

Passenger wing mirror dip on reverse

Rain Closing

Automatic boot closing from interior button and remote fob

Then the battery died on my laptop ..........

Thanks again Andy, the rear teardrop wipe works a treat. :)

Closing the boot with the remote is bloody great! :D

I'd be happy to offer my translation services if required. If that was to happen in exchange for some VCDS stuff when my car is here...even better.

Daft question time but does this VCDS enabling activate the full corner fog function as per the factory set-up; turn steering wheel or indicate and the fog comes on on that side (up to a certain speed) or both fogs come on when you select reverse :wonder:

TP

Just reread your post. The fog lights don't come on when you indicate. Only when wheel is turned or on engaging reverse.

Yeah, noticed that on Neily03's. There must be another adaptation to enable them when indicating.

Shame my laptop battery died and my daughters busy social life stopped me trying the front teardrop wipe as well. I'll have a play with those on my car as there may be a menu item that can be added for those as well, just need to find it!

Not a problem mate, got the main ones sorted and I'm proper chuffed with the boot closing!

I could do with a translator!

Must admit, the boot closing was cool!

That would be useful, my German is fairly rubbish.  Whereabouts in the country are you.

Leeds.

Just had a look at mine again at home and the relevant fog light does come on when indicating (i tested this with the engine running, lights set to Auto & the steering centred).

Is it right that the conering fogs only light up the inner bulb in each fog light?

My apologies, Neily03 is right, they do work when the engine is running.

OK, so the indicator bit works.

Maybe the vRS has a separate cornering light?

Which bulbs illuminate for the front fogs?

I'll check my coding tomorrow and should be coding another vRS tomorrow so will dig a bit deeper.

When front fogs are on I get both bulbs in each foglight, but for cornering I just get the inner bulb in the respective light.

Weird, I'll have a look on another vRS

Maybe two bulbs are used to give a wide spread of the beam and only one bulb is used for cornering - which would be the bulb providing the outer part of the beam.

Yep, but it sounds like it is the inner bulb that is lighting up

Correct. Seems to do the job though.

But if you think of a dished reflector the inner bulb would light the outer edge of the beam.

Ok, see what you mean. I'll see if mine are coded the same on an Elegance with Xenons.

Does your elegance just have the one bulb in each fog light?

Think so, yes, can't say that I've bothered looking.

Sorted it - there are another 2 adaptation channels for the vRS for the additional bulbs - I'll update the first post, but the additional 2 are below. Tested with CharleyB today and works (as long as I don't set his foglights to be dimmed headlights LOL and then wonder why they don't go off !!!)

Thanks for your time today Andyvee, very interesting afternoon. Very impressed with your knowledge of German (minus the dimming light episode). Cornering fogs enabled, tilting passenger mirror activated when selecting reverse, auto close on the windows when it rains, and the last drops wipe function activated for the front and rear wipers. Very happy, thanks again.
