VRS CR Lowering Springs

Featured Replies

Took a few pics today then forgot my freedom membership needs renewed!! Will get it done tomoro and post pics then. According to the order catologue for H&R the hatch ones drop 40 mm and the estate 50mm, think it's to do with the weight of each car (don't quote me though!!)

On my FL it went from this

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

to this

vzmz.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/quote. Sorry but I can't really see a difference?

On mine it dropped 3cm at front and 2cm at rear.

From ground to the  top wheel arch it was 68cm original front and dropped to 65cm, at rear went from 70cm to 68cm.

Although from pics you can notice little change, not the greatest pics, but do look at front wheel gap between tire and wheel arch.

It´s on original shocks that are "bigger" than ones on the VRS and do believe bigger than the Sport versions

Height is based on springs, not on shocks.

In these thread there are so many Eibach differences I think, maybe based on TDI vs TFSI weight (<100 kg) ???

don't forget dsg v manual transmission also make a difference.....slight one at that.

Hi All

Looks like the PI -30mm springs are the way to go for me so just wondered if anyone has had any problems with them. Not much info available as Eibach and H&R are the popular ones. The VRS above looks good with the PI springs fitted.

Have any more people used PI springs?

Heres a pic of mine on H&R springs (50mm drop) the wheels are 17's with 225/45 tyres.

No problems at all with my PI Springs

Another pic with them fitted on the drive:

and with my 16" Winter Alloys fitted:

Hadn't realised yours was an FL, they always seem to lower differently! Looking at ChrisRs's pics on 30mm springs, it seems very similar to Mark_Eire's pre FL on 50mm springs.

They look good lowered,. What about clearance? Will I have problems with minor bumps etc??

I don't...and there are speed bumps in our village

Hello, I'm a new member to this forum and apologises if my question below has already been answered and/or I've posted in the wrong thread.

I own an Octavia Mk3 2.0L 4x4 TDI Estate and it's ride height is rather high with approx 3" (75mm) gap front and rear, between wheel arch and top surface of tyre. The rims and tyres are the standard 16" fitments and although I can pretty much crawl under the car without jacking it up, I'd prefer to lower it. Can the Octavia VRS springs be interchanged with this vehicle, in particular, does the VRS model use the multilink rear suspension ?

Unfortunately the Skoda dealer parts department was unable to offer advice as their system appears to be set up to process a specific vehicle enquiry as opposed to a general "rumage and see what might fit" catalogue. Websites such as Eibach, Bilstein etc. don't list the Mk3 4x4 version although advice from Eibach was to search under the Audi A3 (Quattro) listing. Other aftermarket sellers list plenty information on the Mk1 & 2 Octavia but little on the Mk3.

I'd be grateful for any advice on possible options to lower my car about 50mm.

Many thanks,

Ross

You might want to try this in the mk3 section but it sounds like you might have the Rough Road Package which I think gives slightly raised suspension and is common on the 4x4 models.

Also check that the delivery chocks have been removed from the suspension as the dealers have been known to miss this on the pdi.

One question actually, what sort of clearance is there under the VRS? Would dropping it 35mm cause any issues? I remember my A4 on coilovers used always catch in the multistory car parks! Felt like I was ripping off part of the exhaust at times!!

TBH...I wouldn't drop the standard vRS 35mm due to the speed bumps around here

Also....worth mentioning:

If you regularly carry 2 adults in the back, you WILL have an issue some of the time with that drop...30mm..you wont

Thanks for the reply. Yes sorry, my post should be in another part of the forum. Although the rough road package was not ordered and there isn't any sign of extra plastic underbody panels, I suppose it's always possible different springs could end up on a vehicle during production than were originally intended.

Your mention of the delivery chocks is a good point, but they're definately not still clipped on !

Cheers.

Ross

I have no issues at all with clearance :)

They are on but car is caked in salt pics over the weekend when I can wash it off.

Got some pictures after a rushed salt wash off springs need to settle the ride is as standard you just feel it firm up when you start cornering. Had the alignment done and xenon adaption all is good.

These are the H&R low version 45-50mm. Taking into account the VRS factory drop of 15mm. There is a subtle 30-35mm drop just appears that little bit more than the Eibach version.

Happy with the results and great service from Awesome.

Looks very well, I think silver might be my new favourite colour!

No problems at all .

so that is just on springs? do you use anythin special when cleaning it? mine is silver but yours looks a better colour if you know what i mean

Hi Mike purely on H&R low version springs. I have only had the car a few months with weather I have not had chance to work on the paint finish decontamination/clay etc its just washed with Meguairs gold class shampoo nothing else.

so is the ride not too hard? im after improving my handling, already have a rarb. want full suspension but on a tight budget at moment and was wonderin how much worse just spring was over a full set up?
