Well, I finally reinstalled it on my PC last night after some tweaking.

AmD San Diego 3700+ (2.2GHz) now running at a rather breezy 2.835GHz with 270MHz HTT and Memory speeds

:bump: According to the "top 1000" teams we had the biggest single WU production score total in the team's history - 3380 points - now up to 282 in the rankings! http://statsman.info/folding2stats

 Reckon I might have a couple finishing later on anyway. ;)

I only have 2 PCs at the moment anyway, and have no plans to expand. My laptop is the main one being a tidy P4 2.8 with 1gb memory. The desktop PC I've actually been turning off a lot so has not been a 24/7 machine.

I like this competitive banter. Bodes well for the team.

"I'll be back 150hp" :P ;)

yeah only two here too- thats why mines slowed way down, from what it was before - i reckon i'd be in the top ten now if i still had all 5 working @ emmerdale

annoyingly... I'm now only 2 points behind exFiesta!!

Also annoyingly... I've got 12 PCs in the training rooms at work that I COULD set up folding on, if the IS department would let me.... most of the PCs are only used occasionally but I'm not allowed to install software on em! Grrrr.....

Look at your link now 150HP. ;) :P :P

yeah i noticed a bit back - obviously i wasnt going to post it here

Need more POWER Need More POWER

I think this has got to be one of the toughest contended places on the table

Well, after I retired for a while I was down in 32nd place... :o

Now storming up the table again with my P4 540 (twin processor beast) on virtually 24/7 and my poxy 1.2GHz P3 machine at work on 9-5 ish...

Theres still a disappointing number of players with 1 work unit... if it gets on your nerves, install the console version and set it up to run as a service, that way the icon disappears and you forget its there, yet it works away in the background nice and discreetly... (Going to be a bit of a cheat and set it up like this on colleagues machines while they are out for lunch etc! )

C'mon guys and gals, we need more folders!

Well, I've just found my "stealth" rig dead.

It's been dying since i dropped it two weeks ago ( don't ask )

I've found it every morning waiting for user input to get it to boot, which means it's dying a lot.

This morning, the HDD seems to have finally lunched itself.

Wondered why i'd not been moving much.

Rummaging through the "junk" piles now to salvage parts and rebuild before lunch.....

[Arnie] I'll be back! [/Arnie]

I've got a 600 pointer finishing tonight but you can't have it :P

Is there a way of finding out the point value of a work unit before it's submitted? I couldn't see that listed anywhere.

Think that all depends on how quickly your PC completes it, compared with the time of their benchmark PC :rubchin:

Not sure therefore if there will be a 'hard and fast' list of work unit vs. points?

Steve

Their benchmark pc is a 2.8GHZ P4, so as long as you complete the work unit in the same time or faster then you will get max points. I finished a 600 point one the other week and got all 600. There is a website that lists the projects and the scores, but its on my pc at home. Will post a link later.

*WARNING - SMUTTY POST AHEAD*

:naughty:

Looks like some serious perversity going on at the moment.....

Tom_vRS has shot up my rear out of nowhere, and i'm creeping up to take TaviaRS from behind....

Yes there is :D

have a look here

It updates every hour or so with a list of all the projects that are running at the mo and how many points you will get for em.....

for example, my pc is working on p1140_RIBO_FSpeptide_EXT_nospring at the mo - so I look that up and it tells me it's gonna be worth 600 points....

Thanks PussCat

Here is another site, listing all projects not just current ones with their values. The site also has a nice pic of the protein to.

Bought a new PC today, to replace my aged home desktop machine. The new beast is an Athlon 64 4000 with a massive spec, just doing the build and testing to see if I can get XP Pro x64 working. Seems ok so far, but will need to go wired lan I think as there are no x64 drivers for any pre-n cards yet, or I may just revert back to the standard version of XP for now. Watch out Colin, I am coming to get you.

I'm actually cutting back my machines to save some electricity. :D

So, I'll be down about 1/2 production unless I can outsource any folding. :)

I know what you mean about saving electricity. SWMBO keeps cursing me when she notices I've left the PC on at home. Mind you, the fans are so noisy you can still hear it with the door to the room shut!!

Fortunatley, there are 8 machines at work that are on the case during office hours! Shhh!

All the Best

Chris

P.S I was reading in a computer magazine the other day about a folding project to do with cancer. Anyone know anything about that one? I'll have to dig it out again and have another look.

The new athlon 64 is now up and running, has already completed a few WU's. Shame its not 64bit code, as the rest of this x64 version of windows seems to fly compared to standard XP.
