No probs, it was Neily03's car as the guinea pig!

Can confirm this works on a vrs

My two Autistic children love the way the boot opens on its own and beeps and I wonder if when the boot closes the car can beep as well?

The beeping would also help too warn people the boot is closing.

It still beeps, although this can be disabled, as I am going to attempt on Neily03's vRS on Monday

Thanks for the info, at some point I will be asking someone if they can activate a few things for me, especially the boot closing the kids will love it.

Took a drive over to see the very helpful Mike Holroyd in Whitby, in my new O3 VRs this afternoon. He managed to alter:

1) dipping nearside door mirror on selecting reverse.

2) cornering fog lights.

3) switched on rear lights as standard day runners (we only get front lights as standard)

4) put 2 rear fogs on as opposed to the single one it left the factory with.

5) the led's on the fan now show how much the fan is on when switched to automatic.

6) we tried to adjust the comfort setting indicator from 3 to 5 flashes. this didn't immediately show up, but Mike said it could take a couple of days to start working or I may have to reset factory settings.

7) similar with rear rain wiper tear function. I'll give 6 and 7 a few days, then probably go for a 'reboot'.

Very much appreciated Mike, you're a star and thanks to Andy too. I know Mike was bending your ear before I got there.

Many Thanks once again for enhancing my already amazing machine :-)

Excellent, the rear teardrop will only work when you are moving.

Sorry to be ignorant, but how do you access the Controller programme?

Thanks

Without trying to be rude...

Do you have VCDS?

Have you read the 1st post?

If the answer to both questions is yes and you still don’t understand how to do this then you really should not be messing about with VCDS let alone your car.

  • 2 months later...

Would love to do this on my car, but not many in Norway With VCDS.

I asked my dealer if they could do it, and he said yes, but he probably needed the long coding because he is doing it with the original VAG-Tools.

Can anyone help me?

It's not done under long coding, it needs to be done under 'adaptations'

I would definitely love to get this done on mine...is it a simple matter of contacting someone from the VCDS map? Would they expect PMs out of the blue?

Most of us on the map are more than happy to be contacted out of the blue.

What I need is which bits or bytes that needs to be changed, because I will have my dealer try to change this with original tool (VAG-tool?) and NOT via VCDS.

Anyone familiar with both VCDS and VAG-Tools?

You don't change any bits or bytes. It is adaptation channels that need changing. If your dealer can't do it from the info posted on here then go elsewhere.

As Andy has said there is no Bit or Byte to change under adaptations..

How long would it take to do this adaption? Is there anything else involved? Picking my elegance estate up next week, just need to get hold of some beer tokens.

The MBQ platform takes a bit longer to do code changes.

Expect to take 5 -10 mins per code (after the initial scan)

The 1st MBQ I coded took around an hour to do half a dozen changes.

Finally gave up on my dealer, and bought VCDS myself, as there is not many available in Norway!

Have started a little careful with: -Fan speed display, -Needle sweep, -Refuel quantity, -Laptimer and -Boot closing from keyfob and int.button.

The only problem is: when I use the keyfob, I have to hold the button and it only travels half way down and stop. Then I have to press the button again and hold it untill it is all closed.

Any suggestions?

Yup. Some options being on German means you have to triple check you're about to change what you think you're changing.

As you should anyway, always save a scan 1st

As you are mainly changing adaptations, exporting a full adaptation map for each controller is a good idea before you start. Takes a while though ....

Can you do that with vcds?

  • Author

Yep

Applications>Controller Channel Maps

Then select Function - Adaptation radio button

Enter the controller address and any security access code needed for the controller (if applicable)

Then click Go

It takes a good 20 minutes to get the adaptations from 09 BCM so make sure your laptop battery is fully charged

You end up with a .csv file in your logs folder, makes interesting reading - hope your German translation skills are up to scratch!

Does vcds work with macs ? Or just PC
