Fabia Estate Windows Steaming Up

Featured Replies

I have a 2003 Fabia Estate 1.4 16v Classic Automatic and the windows steam up quite badly, it takes forever for the windscreen to clear some mornings with the heater fan on full windscreen demist and the dashboard outlets closed.  More annoyingly, the rear windows and rear quarter lights never really clear unless the windows are opened, not always an option in this wet weather.  Is this a design fault with this year/model or is there something else at play?  The ventilation throughout the car seems to be very poor indeed.  Does anyone else experience this?  Any suggestions as to how to improve the situation?

I would look at the pollen filter or the rear doors to see if they are leaking

I think I've just found my problem, the inside bottoms of the rear door panels are soaking wet for about an inch and a half up from the bottom, leaky seals inside the doors I'd say.  Have to wait for a dry day to get the door panels off and fix them...

By the way, where would I find the Pollen Filter?  The car doesn't have Air-Con.

If you use the correct stuff to stop the leak, you don't need to wait for it to dry. ;)

If you need to wait to dry, it will probably take a lot longer than a day to dry I would guess without aid.... Best get a dehumidifier to speed the process up.

My pollen filter is under my glove box.

Don't have a garage so don't want to get wet while I'm doing the job... ;)

Found it!  Ta.

Another thing that doesn't help is that I think someone (the dealer?) has used some silicone, or other greasy stuff, to clean the inside of the windows, they are as greasy as hell.  When the windows are steamed up I use a chamois leather pad to wipe them clear but it just smears the greasy stuff...

Tried water/washing up liquid - didn't remove it, tried kitchen surface cleaner - didn't touch it.  Any ideas?
