Amundsen touchscreen fader / subwoofer control fault

Featured Replies

Hello,

I wondered if anybody else has seen a fault with the Amundsen infotainment system where controls "disappear" from the sound menus?

I got a new Octavia Elegance just before Christmas with the Canton upgrade option.  Today, I started the day with a sound menu containing all of the controls, but when I got into the car this evening, I found that the sound had gone all to crap when playing media and none of the sound menus on the screen were showing the fader controls or the subwoofer level.  I have tried a factory reset on all settings, but that hasn't made any difference, except from resetting the subwoofer level which I cannot now change!

I can't get to a dealer to ask about warranty repair for a few days and wondered if anyone else had seen this.

Cheers.

Rich.

Hi

I might be wrong but if you're listening to radio over fm band the canton menu and sub level menu will be grayed out.

Try playing media as flac, mp3 (320kb) or dab radio.. And the menu are back..

Hi,

I was aware that the Canton menu items are not always available, but this is an absence of both the balance/fader and subwoofer menus. They are not greyed out, they just aren't there. The scroll bar for the sound menu is also absent too.

if they are totally missing, and the sound is lacking then something has happened to the communication between the Canton and Amundsen IIRC its done over fibre optics. If the sound is ok, then its a software problem which will most likely have gone after a restart.

A scan of the car by the dealer or VCDS should reveal a fault code.

Thanks for that: when I started the car this morning, all menu items were back where they should be and everything was functional again, so fingers crossed it was a temporary thing.

Cheers.

Perhaps it didn't like your choice in music!!!

It wouldn't be the first time somebody has objected!

My radio screen frose the other day. NOTHING worked. All the buttons and the touchscreen frose. I could change the radiostation from the st.wheel and controll the volume, but that was it. I locked the car and left it for 1 hour, When i came back and started up, all was back to normall again. :/ Strange stuff.

Mine had gone blank on 3 occasions. Buttons round the edge and steering wheel controls still work. If you push the blank screen it still reacts as though you've pushed the button that would normally be in screen too.

Skoda have had it in for a look but couldn't find anything. They asked me to make a video of it next time it does it.

This fault has happened a few times now.  The dealer had not seen anything similar and to be honest, when it happens, I know it'll be fine the next time the car's started after a few hours locked so it's not causing major grief.  It is weird though.  Tried noting down what I was doing / had / hadn't switched on when the problem appeared but there seems to be no common factors.  All I'm doing now is religiously following the same start-up procedure everyth day until it happens again and I can spot a pattern, but so far it seems genuinely random.

When you had these problems was your phone in, connected through the USB, per chance?
