Water ingress problem AGAIN!

Featured Replies

Thought id done with this problem but happened again...

Last time after fixing up the wires and connector etc I covered the whole setup with petroleum jelly. Thought it would keep the moisture out,but it got in again.

This time I wasnt so lucky...the connector is rusted up badly(same one as before) but on the female part one of the pins is completely corroded away.

So before I hit the breakers yard I wanted to ask do I h.ave to get the parts from a mk1 vrs like mine or would other models do also

Last time the guy handed me a snips and said "get it yourself"

Sorry I didnt just grab the whole door now

You can get replacement connectors individually. I've no idea on part numbers though. You could than replace all the corroded ones as needed. Or failing that, have a search for heatshrink butt connectors, cut the faulty circuits from the connector and join them up. It makes it a pain in the arse if you ever need to remove the loom though

Those individual wires can be tricky to get out aswel I found last time with this problem. Was able to fix it pretty much as you said above but this time round I lost a pin completely on the part you connect into(pic in the thumbnail)

Thanks bowders. Hopefully have time tomorrow to spin round the breakers...
