How to fool ESC?

Featured Replies

I have 4x4 octavia and I would like to have some fun in snow but you cant turn ESC off completely. I have options ESC-sport but its still gonna activate ESC in some stage .

You can even take fuses off any more because after that engine will be on safe mode or 4x4 doesn’t work.

I thought that maybe one way to fool system is to make brake down in ABS. If one ABS sensor is failing then maybe all system is down. This is the idea, I don’t know if this helps.

If you push and hold the esc button for a few seconds I'm sure it turns it off completely.

Does on the vRS.

How much fun can you possibly have in a 4x4 Octavia? I wouldn't have thought that the engine delivers anywhere near enough torque for such games?

In any case deliberately breaking the ABS to make that happen is...stupid. (And unlikely to work)

Would probably be cheaper to hire a track car for the day if you want to have some fun.

Sorry I refuse to give any advice on this (IMO stupid) endeavour.

Don't start messing around with the cars safety systems, if the worst should happen and you crash it (worst case into someone) your insurance would be null and void.

If you want some "fun" buy a cheap RWD car and have it that way.

Sorry but at least from me, google it.

Do all MK3 Octavias have ESC Sport or is this only limited to vRS's etc. In the past only cars like the Golf GTD, GTI, R And Scirocco's had this feature. In my 2013 Mk2 vRS I can only turn off the ASR.

Agree though a daft thing to do to a car to make it more fun to drive in snow....get yourself a cheap powerful rear drive/4wd car with no ESC for that kind of endeavour.....probably still end up knackering your suspension though

On mk3 vrs a press of button turns acs off, hold it down for about 3 seconds and it goes into sport acs

Needs to be a cheap RWD car with an LSD, otherwise one wheel might spin up and you just look silly going nowhere.  Having said that, an MX-5 Mk1 will fishtail quite gracefully in the snow, given gentle treatment; it's so well balanced that even the ones with the open diff tend to let go on both sides at the same time.

How much fun can you possibly have in a 4x4 Octavia?

With lashing eyelets and a 12v outlet in the boot.....  I think you need I little more imagination there bichti

Point taken!

The ESP Sport is available on VRS and 4x4 versions.

Difference between normal mode is HUGE.

Having 4x4 You can easy play drifting or spin around.

just change 29 byte to 09

Presumably it's possible to pull the fuse to the ABS unit?

Presumably it's possible to pull the fuse to the ABS unit?

there's a youtube video of a german guy doing the Ring with his O3 VRS with the ABS switched off by pulling the fuse, so yes, that appears to be possible.

for full ESC off u need to change 29 byte to 07

Know it´s a old thread but here is the simple solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lUtH012kec

Removing the ESP fuse will also kill the Haldex (4x4).

Sidenote: To all of you saying how stupid this is bla bla bla, have this in mind: most of the people who do this is using their cars on ice on track days and so on. Under normal circumstances and daily driving the ESP system should be active.

I will also add put that car on a track and have your fun their.

Puling a fuse will not 'nullify' your insurance either. That's known as a post hoc fallacy. If x happens, then logically y will happen. If you have turned esp off and are driving along, not paying attention, and drive into the back if someone, this has no bearing on having esp turned off. This event would have happened with it turned off and an insurer would not be able to absolve themselves of liability to cover you when the 3rd party claims.

People have been driving cars for years without esp and mysteriously been able not to crash.

But kill someone or cause life changing injuries on the public highway and then see what the Accident Investigation & Loss Adjusters give as evidence in the court case or civil case raised against you.

3rd parties will be paid by the Insurance.

A few simple google searches of forums done by an Insurance Underwriters Loss Adjuster showing the drivers interest in the inhibiting & disabling the OEM systems on the vehicle or other modifications will go towards showing that the vehicle might not have been bought as changes having being done by 'An Other'.  Like that undeclared remap that someone says must have been already on the vehicle, but then the Credit Card check shows that the driver paid for it.

Not all just internet myths these Insurance Stories you read or hear about.

I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm disagreeing with the statement that gets copied and pasted into every single thread like this that every change will invalidate an insurance policy.

It won't.

Even if you were to switch esp to sport mode, that's not classed as modification. . As the end user is capable of configuration of the system using the cars software as designed.

Esp turned off by either method, if you're culpable in an accident because you were driving like a tool and you ran out of talent, you're proper shafted, fuse or not

Pulling fuses to disable functions will not invalidate the 3rd party part of vehicle insurance,

but could lead to the need to purchase soap on a rope depending on your luck or lack of.

Bet you wished you never asked now!

Quite a while since the OP and since active on the forum.

The answers have been given to how its done which is not by pulling a plug.
