This is a first post from a long time lurker. So first of all, thank you to all members for the really useful information that this forum provides.

 

Today was collection day for my new race blue VRS 2.0 TSI. Ordered 6 November, built during week 2 - under 12 weeks from order to collection. Not too bad, I guess. Extras: black pack, park assistant, cruise control (standard), colour maxidot, heated washer nozzles, simply clever pack and spare wheel.

 

Going against the trend of most other VRSs I've seen on this forum, I also specified the no-cost option of silver Gemini alloys in preference to the more popular anthracite. I'm delighted with how the car looks on these alloys, so I thought I'd try posting a few pics.

 

I haven't driven very far yet, but first impressions are very favourable indeed!

 

Looks great, can't wait for mine, due the 28th March, gone for the same colour but my only option is cruise control, 9 weeks to go!

Love the silver wheels! My car was Bw2 and I'm picking it up on Wednesday :-))

Not seen one on the silver Gemini before now and I must say they really do suite your car; better than the anthracite IMHO.

Very nice, and with that colour, I think the silver wheels are probably the best combo.

But ... 12 weeks from order ... now you have screwed me up because I will now want to know why mine doesn't get here in 12 weeks :p

Think the silver wheels suit the blue.

I've ordered white with anthracite Geminis but saw a picture of a white hatch with pictoris wheels recently and thought it was a good combo.

I definitely think silver sets the car off when it is race blue, but I really am torn as to which way to go. One thing I'm fairly certain of is that the Gemini will be easier to clean than the Pictoris.

Apart from liking the Gemini design, easier cleaning was a significant factor in my choice. Some times cleaning the wheels takes as long as cleaning the bodywork!

Looks brilliant, i think I'm joining the thoughts in that the silver wheels really suit the blue!

Very nice, so many combinations and another 16 weeks to wait equal indecisiveness not helped by all these pics.

I was race blue with anthracite and black pack, then was leaning towards silver wheels but am currently changed to black with anthracite and black pack, who knows what it will actually be when it arrives :-)

I have gone for same colour as you, but with anthracite gemini's, it is nice to see what the silver ones are like, have to say they look good.

 

I personally think the pictoris look better on the combi/estate and the gemini's look better on the hatch.

Dare I say it but it'd look even better with chrome grill and if we could get them in the UK, chrome window surrounds!

I've only recently joined having taken posession of the mk2 Octavia Elegance this car replaces.

 

I can't get over how good the blue looks in the sun. I think the black pack is essential for the vRS too. And I'm really pleased with how the silver Geminis look. I thought it might lose some of the aggressive look that the anthracite wheels lend the car, and I guess it does to a degree, but I think it looks classier for it. I suspect it won't be a popular option though.

Thanks for your comments on the pics - it was also first time out with my new camera. (Pentax K-5 II, if you're interested.) Going back to the anthracite geminis, I think they look beautifully made and beautifully finished, and will look good on your car. However, it looks like the outer face of the rim and each spoke is diamond polished - maybe not the best surface for long term adhesion and chip-resistance of paint/lacquer. I plan on keeping the car quite a few years, and I thought that more conventional silver-painted and lacquered wheels would probably be the more durable option.
