I hit a drain hole with a dislodged cover on the m4 , it popped my front tyre (55's) and damaged the rims on the near side. I pulled over to hard shoulder and took plenty of photos , they paid up when they got the photos

I had 225 40 18 XL on mine and changed to 225 45 18 XL. The 45 ' s are a dearer tyre but the difference in ride and pot holes is amazing! Really helps the car.
