New 14 plate ordered!

Featured Replies

Just ordered a new 14 plate at the weekend.

Yeti Outdoor, 140, 4x4.

Black Magic with Matterhorn Alloys.

Not specced any additional toys on it although might get a towbar added once it arrives to allow use of a bike rack.

Order it with the factory fit towbar - its a bargain 'no-brainer'

Nice one sir, not fancy a DSG box to go with it?

Gentle reminder: a spare wheel doesn't count as a 'toy'....

I agree with Merlinman - £450 for a towbar fitted  at factory is a bargain. Dealer fit about £850. Also factory fit will be quality assured. The spare wheel is also worth considering as said by Brijo - (£150 I think).

Did you go for the Elegance spec? It is worth it for the items included - e.g. bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats, nicer upholstery etc.

I ordered 16/12 and it was built last week so they seem to be coming through quite quickly.

If you are considering having a tow bar and your happy with a Westfalia swan neck then certainly get factory fit as has been already stated your electrics will be correct, which is the main issue with after fit electrics and the can bus If you require a flange fit tow bar I would recommend the Witter. The tow bar is the easy part, the electrics if not fitted properly will cause numerous issues, and unfortunately there are a lot of monkeys out there, including some dealers, that will see you off!

It's not just £450 for the towbar, you also have to pay £200 for towbar prep! :wall:

Still cheaper than after market fit though.

No you don't (unless it's changed for the FL).  I ordered the factory fit towbar on my Yeti last year (ordered March, delivered May) and the factory towbar price (£410 at that time IIRC) included the prep.

Sorry Fred, but you're wrong.

If you order the factory fit tow bar you get the lot for £450.

The only extra is the additional fridge and battery wiring, which is a UK only addition

Yeah the others are right Fred, my FL has a factory fit towbar, and it was a straight £450. An absolute bargain after reading some of the problems others have had here and elsewhere with aftermarket fits.

Spare wheel is a must have option for me and again considerably cheaper from the factory than fitting as a dealer option.

The heated front screen is useful although I have only needed to use it a "couple or three" times so far this winter (I live 1250' up at the top of the Pennines, I have never had this option on any other car but would now see it as a future requirement for all my new cars)

I also would not be without front parking sensors, it just takes all the guesswork (or driving skills dependant on how you think about these things) out of parking the car, although I decided park assist was unnecessary.

Park assist is a bit of fun, I have it on mine and I've used it twice. No joke it's just easier to park it yourself.

Although I'm glad i have it as it makes me feel better that the wife shouldn't prang it while parking.

It's good to show your friends though.

Wish I had two friends...

This just adds to my ire at SUK about all towing matters! They, and their dealers, just don't know enough about their product.

I asked this question when I bought the first Yeti and was told prep also had to be paid for. I then asked SUK and was told the same.

It would have saved me a lot of heartache if I'd been given the correct information.

It just adds to my conviction that if you want to know anything about your car don't bother with SUK, ask here and get CORRECT information.

Note to self, contact dealer quickly!

Are you planning to keep the wife?

Only if she doesn't prang it

Correct answer :giggle:

Think a phone call to the dealers might be in order for the Towbar. The car is being built to suit a monthly budget so I am being careful with the spec but I think the one off cost will prob be worth it as opposed to doing an aftermarket  job.

Absolutely.

(Please tell me that that is the right modern word!)

When you specify the towbar on the configurator, I'm fairly sure that it dims out the towbar prep - so you couldn't order both anyway. I think you also get up-rated engine cooling. It really is good value.

Correct

I specified the tow bar on my order, couldn't be bothered fitting it and thought the price was fair. Didn't know about up-rated engine cooling though, not sure how they work that, but another plus for factory fitted..

.....or as necessary. Each to their own.

Can't wait to see the pics. I've just ordered a yeti outdoor elegance 2.0 diesel 4x4 dsg in the same colour. Pick it up next week. Not many pics of it in black. Only difference is I have the anapurna alloys but should look good with the silver wing mirrors and front and rear protection panels
