Hi All,

OK im convinced that the Jabba Re chip is probably the best option rather than Revo, thanx all for the help.

Apart from Liverpool Victoria, can anyone recommend Insurance companies who are competive on these modified VRS,s please

Pete from Preston

Give More Th>n a shout! They seem quite mod friendly to me, only wanting details of increases in acceleration and top speed (which a Jabba session will entail) If you were changing anything purely aesthetic (that's a big word for me, probably spelt wrong) then More Th>n don't need to be told. Could be handy for those wheel/spoiler/suspension/brakes work.

Got a quote from Liverpool Victoria and was quote

Direct Line are robbing me blind....750 excess is more than a quote from (there are a few)

It's bloody mad what they charge...excess went up 200 quid with the KW suspension fitted...No idea why, but can't move as an accident last year where I was nudged is still open and as such can't take my protected over to new company.

My insurance has not gone down in 10 years of driving, always climbing (unless I switch) but then at renewal it's always higher, which amazes me as I'm that bit older, still had no penatlies...just a bigger credit limit...strange how these things appear to a layman.

The answer, painful as it is, is to switch every time - they all want your business as a new customer. I just switched from Axinud Fral to another Co. for the 928 - went down from around

Yeah, where's that gone, exactly? I know I found it once before but darned if I can find it again

DOH!!! I was looking under links .... :o

Hmmm - Wonder what insurance premium I'd be paying on a similar 928... methinks I'd struggle to afford it. :D

Hmmm hard to say - I have no no-claims on this policy as it's a second car, it's limited to 5k miles/year, it's conditional on the car being garaged, alarmed, bla bla bla. That said it includes me and the wife for SDP and commuting, plus roadside assistance here and in Europe so pretty impressive all round. It's a specialist classic/low-mileage company.

so me, 20K+ a year, on the driveway, no garage, too young to handle the V8, is pretty screwed then? :D

Dunno - and who said anything about too young? (or are you putting words in the mouth of the insurance company?). If you really want to know - ring an insurance company or fill in an online quote ... might surprise you.

OTOH, remember the mpg - somewhere between 13 and 19 on mine on 97+ RON, and the cost of tyres ...

When I renewed recently there was a lot of "when you're 25 you'll be able to....." However it's nothing compared to when I'd only just passed my test, even as a named driver on my Dad's insurance! Now, as a named driver, my Dad would have to pay over

Well, add it up - cost of 20 year old 928=

You've got a mid-engined Octavia? Have you told your insurance company about this?!! :p

Think it's about maturity behind the wheel - a lot of under 25s would probably be regarded as hooligans.

Rob.

I'm not denying that I am... :D BEEP BEEP - OUT OF MY WAY, CARAVAN!"

Meant mid-engined in terms of displacement rather than location... :p

Rob.

I kneauuu that, I kneauuu that!

Determined to get a go in a mates E325I soon - I need to feel some BHP under my boot (still sad to say 130BHP is the quickest car I've personally driven. :( )

Well ive just had a call from Liverpool Victoria, with good news, the underwriters are not loading me for the chipping. I have to keep receipts though, in case of a repair from accident damage.

Its works out around

NU Direct pay out a full pro rata refund of premium if you have been insured with them for more than a year.

I just brought some new alloys for my octavia, phoned my insurance company to let them know(direct line) and they told me i could not have any modifications to my car till i was over 25, are they just talking aload of rubbish or is this true.

If they told you this, then its probably true. Try phoning around a few other places and if necessary, change ;)

This alas is true. I have got this too from Direct Line. My Fabia has alloys as standard but when I went to get put on as a numed driver on my Dad's insurance I was told no, because he had optional alloys on his Octy. I have meant to chase it up and annoy the hell out of Direct Line but truth be told I can't be bothered! If it had been a modification to the engine or the suspension I could have maybe understood but to the wheels? I'm sure a set of Skoda Alloys are not high on the nickable list with all the 'better badges' around!
