Jack it up high enough. Undo some bolts and it basically falls out!!!!

pop both drive shafts, remove gear linkage, fuel, coolant lines and wiring. undo 3 engine mounts. bang, done!

 

if you dont intend on keeping/reselling the parts which i doubt Richard will.... you can just drop in no time

Potentially more interesting way of doing things. If the job can't be done with a hammer, it's probably not worth doing!

on the 1.4 8V the Intake and exhaust are on the back side, so you need to undo the down pipe for ease. otherwise its quite a faff

 

IIRC all the gear box linkages are the same mechanism.

I've already got all of that off and just looked up gear linkages! Hopefully with my supervision it will all be good

Paid more than that for mine. Base spec vrs. No leather No heated seats no xenons no cd changer had more miles on it and had a bad paint job! Very good price for that. And it's lightly modified.
