Richard's mk1 Fabia thread. (Yes, I have a mk1 Fabia problem...)

Sounds like they are getting a bit over confident due to all the rave reports and way they are selling.

Fortunately my local dealer let me give one the beans down a twisty country lane. I was sold. :D

On a back road, being smaller and more interactive it was actually more "fun" than the GT-R because the latter is too capable and big.

Bit more of an experience with the manual box and being able to just throw it into the corners too :) there's no dealers locally that stock them out here!

I think you had an "extended" test drive.

Bryan has hit the nail smack bang on the head.

I am looking at what I need. Which honestly is err.. nothing.

With the mental Citigo, quick Yeti VRS, practical Yeti and a Jap car or two I've already got more than I should have.

More than certainly anyone needs due to a bit of a car weakness.

So I'm going to just do something I want. Just for the satisfaction of doing it. :)

Something I've wanted to do for a while, right back to before I started the Citigo project when I had my 09 plate Fabia VRS SE and couldn't justify chopping up probably the last registered mk1 Fabia out there to do it.

And the Skoda I've been wanting to do is...

A Fabia WRC EVO1 (2004 spec). With lots of stickers!

How handy I just bought an 04 plate that needs a bit of bodywork.

Wow I'm a fan of the graphics

You need to complete a wrc one Richard :)

You need to complete a wrc one Richard :)

I was trying to subtlety hint that :)

I'm not that subtle :D

Nor will I be once driving the FGF

Come and test drive my ST-3, offer me £15k for it and drive home.

Sorted. :D

Very tempting, need the m3 payout etc all sorted first. If it were sorted this week (which I doubt!) you could trailer it to Combe :D

Yeti vRS = no tow bar :( many volunteers to drive that car up though I'd guess :)

My "racing" Yeti has no tow bar.

So if you can't get a test drive... Essex it is. :D

That might ruin your clean licence though :P

Having just been updating the limited edition thread can you and Gee stop swapping was it's a nightmare ;)

Skoda UK have said that they do not have access to the information that could confirm or deny the existence of a FGF Saloon in this country and so it will remain, for the time being, a mythical beast. (Unless anyone knows different)

The hunt continues .....

Surely they must have some kind of record of the VIN numbers and colour codes? i call BS

They told me that the factory does not release this information to either the general public or even to Skoda UK themselves, but they were interested in why I wanted to know. :D

Lol you have more time than I do :P

Tell them you're from the Skoda UK FG fan club and you're looking for this mythical creature that no-one has ever seen.....

Are FGF autos rare? Just wondering due to the price ! of this one http://www.leighservicestation.co.uk/used-cars/skoda-fabia-1-4-16v-classic-5dr-auto-75hp-leigh-on-sea-201408176668450 - at least it's fairly local and looks tidy. Not sure if it's been mentioned on here already - apologies if so.

Yes, only auto I've ever seen.

Still a Classic though, so seems rather expensive to me.

No Air-Con.

May have been mentioned before, doesn't matter. :)

I think that anyone that was 'unique' enough to order their new Fabia in Fantasy Green wasn't normally going to be an 'automatic' type of person.

I think that the torque converter automatic gearbox was typically chosen by a low mileage, more mature type of customer who would normally opt for a more conservative colour (blue, silver) and possibly a saloon bodyshell.

That may be why a FGF Saloon could be just a myth, it's such an unlikely combination.

Only time will tell.

Don't complain! I'd have bought one from factory in that colour!

be nice if the garage posted a few more pics of the car rather than their shameless self promotion :D
