Do you have a plan B?

Featured Replies

Seems like skoda are being deliberately useless to try and tempt people into other VAG products!

It's a real shame as I was really looking forward to a decent/potent petrol engine and although I'm sure the replacement audi diesel will be better in many aspects, the octavia was exactly what I was looking for in terms of footprint and power.

Well I pick my C250 up tomorrow. It's not the wait that's the issue, I get supply and demand, I get it can be unpredictable and difficult to manage but.... All I want is a firm date given to me when

After asking for some info yesterday from SUK, no return call as promised .... phoned again today and as of yet still no return call, not impressed.

A4 would be tempting if I can get one, but saloon petrols are not available in technik from stock.

If only the Mazda forums were as helpful as this place, want to find out how reliable the diesels are (as there is no decent power petrol lump in the 6).

Aren't Mazda still sharing bits with Ford, i'd say there's a fair chance it's the same 2.2 lump as in the Mondeo?

I believe that ended a while back, and Mazda developed the new diesel themselves. Having read some horror stories regarding the previous gen Mazda diesels, I want to ensure the new ones don't suffer similarly !

I am getting a headache from all my research, I think I need to find something soon before I breakdown :wall:

Just FYI I had an email from Drive the Deal today re some a6 ultras that they have available. Have a look at the special offers section. Some very sizeable discounts!!

Sorry, phone issues!

Its a revised version of the old Mazda R2 engine, shares some component parts, crank bearings, piston rings.  Pistons have the same crown design as the Ford 2.2 but spec is different.  Does look like they have taken some designs cues from the Ford engine.  There are issues with the chains going on this engine, its all about how well its been looked after. You wouldn't believe the calls we get for vehicles, a year old, whose owners have run them out of oil!

Doesn't sound good, if they drink oil enough that they run dry in such a short space of time (yes I know it should be checked regulary but still).

Back to square one then .. arrrrrrrrrrgh

Im starting to wonder if i should look at an alternative, my BW has now vanished from the system like a lot of others.

the A6 avant 3.0 looks quite good...

Well that's twice SUK promised to phone back later in the day and didn't.

Shoddy service is one of those things that really bugs me, VERY Grumpy ATM :p

yeah im looking at similar may be Passat or A4. Its unacceptable that they cant give proper lead times and then if they do its crazy BW.

have you had your deposit back? Was dealer ok etc?

They are supposed to be calling me tomorrow with an update. I'm telling them then do will let you know. The sales manager was a coward and hid away in his office, totally opposite behaviour to when he was selling us the thing. The A4 is £80 more a month but I thought its worth it just so I can tell Skoda to stick it

Go for it, the 245 S-tronic is a great combo!

Get a Bike, Push bike, get a v. expensive push bike

They really are treating customers with contempt. ?

I have emailed my dealer today to cancel as they still can't give a BW. Can't really fault the dealer he has tried his best and has kept me informed. He has emailed to say that the sales managed will been in touch for full refund.

well they have not done to bad. Have had £1500 of my money for 3+months..

very tempted by a Passat estates and especially the Alltrack...good discounts and can have one in a matter of wks...

How many of us have cancelled now then? Just crazy how many orders Skoda are losing through lack of communication and clarity on timing.

I got the impression things went off a cliff 2 weks ago when lots of people on here cancelling in that time. I've considered the Leon St and Mazda 6 tourer sport but currently still prefer the vrs. Since I am getting a sizeable military discount I've not found any other cars to come close ( other than the 2  mentioned), but I am close to cancelling. If the Mazda had sensible sized wheels and a better ride..... Hmm

This to me is the one thing that will wind me up more than anything. I'm a great believer in if I say i will get back to them I will, even if it's bad news. Not getting back to people is just ignorant and shows a total lack of respect, if you're not going to do it, don;t say you will!

Either they don;t actually give a hoot or there is some serious customer service lessons t be learnt from this fiasco.

I for one am becoming increasingly drawn in by a Volvo V70 with a few toys.  The D4 version is nearly as quick as the VRS and the BIK is lower as the emissions are much lower.

Doubt the handling will be that great but TBH after my 3 series I doubt either will be quite as much fun in the twisty bits.  For the family load lugger I guess I need to grow up a  a bit!

The VRS is till super but the total lack of meaningful info from the very polite but ultimately clueless girls at SUK is just stupid.  I know the script now too so don't need to phone..................

very true lack of whats going on is unacceptable.

After a further week of my dealer not providing any sort of update, even a nothing to report call would at least go some way to helping, I emailed this morning to cancel my order and request my deposit back.

I fully appreciate that the dealers are caught between a rock and a hard place, however it always appeared that I was the one having to do the chasing and the last conversation with the salesman was not as it should be in my opinion. When I indicated that I was now looking at alternatives he became somewhat condescending , not the best way of retaining a customer I would have thought but hey, ho!

As a last resort I again contacted Skoda Uk who once again trotted out the well used excuse of parts shortages and that whilst my order was accepted in early December there was nothing more on the system.

The handling of the Octavia Vrs sales has been a massive customers services failure by Skoda UK in so many ways.

My experience has been similar to yours abod.

I was given another build week a few days ago but had no confidence in actually getting the car when quoted, so decided to cancel the order. Bit of a shame really as this would have been my 4th vRS and I was quite excited about getting lots of new toys!

Buying a new car should be a pleasurable experience but on this occasion I found it far from that,  and my brand loyalty has gone.

I'm now picking up a 320d M Sport Touring at the weekend so every cloud.......

I know what you mean, I was looking forward to driving the vrs , but wearing my more sensible hat I have now got a Mazda 6 sports tourer fully loaded with some extras at no additional cost to me ( pick it up in 2 weeks )and the crazy bit is the chap at the Skoda dealers has failed to grasp it is a double whammy. My wife was going to trade in her aging leon fr for a new  yeti in the summer, so we still had one 4wd, living as we do in the sticks. She is now off looking at alternatives there too - so they have lost 2 sales from us .

V70 demo car on the way to me for a few days.  Order now, deliver in may on a factory build with lots of options.  Makes you think..............

Rather sad about the whole thing though.
