Do you have a plan B?

Featured Replies

I'd agree, should there be any issues with my C250 I would expect the dealers to be pretty much aware of anything and everything that can go wrong by now leading to less hassle for me in terms of getting it fixed.

Hope your brakes last longer than mine. 20k miles and new front Pads and Discs!!! Never got through discs that quick in my life. Glad I don't pay the bill those great looking front discs cost a packet.

Well after the costs of the Brembos on.the Insignia VXR the C Class ones, while maybe not cheap, aren't that bad.

Does anybody know with all these cancelled vrs orders do dealers have access to them all?

Here I am with my plan B. Jag lent me an XF and a tank of fuel to drive to the factory and see my new car on the production line. This time next week, it should be waiting for me at the dealers...

I hope I don't look too smug ;-)

Nice one!  Doesn't happen very often you actually get to see your car being built.

I hope you checked the spec - and didn't hassle the guys on the line to take extra care of it... :bandit:

It seems to depend on if the dealer cancels the car with SUK or leaves it in the queue to be built essentially taking a punt they can sell it before it arrives or put it on as a demo.

Seems to depend on the dealer which route they take, pretty sure mine got cancelled with SUK as I needed to put it in writing so the dealer had that to leverage, if they were keeping it and not cancelling the car I guess they wouldn't have needed that.

If only a Jag Sportbrake 200 sport wasn't going to be 66% more expensive per month than my VRS TDI estate....

With a £1k deposit (same as the VRS i ordered) and negotiating nearly 6 grand off the list price, and taking it on a PCP over 4 years instead of 3, it actually worked out at about 10% more than the VRS ;-)

You know you want to...

If my build week 13 gets put back I'll take a more serious look. I got one PCP quote from Drive the Deal but that didn't look competitive at £384 a month with £6k deposit! But you are right... A diesel, estate, Jag!

seems like a good deal to me..

Hi Zzap.

If you're using the audi configurator then the code for my configuration is ACMEZ230

Daytona grey though after much deliberation! Quartz grey also looks great in the flesh.

In terms of deal, I think it works well for me for a couple of reasons - I'd ordered a petrol vRS with around 4k of options so came in around 28500-29000 and I got a bit dizzy on the 0% etc so barely managed any deal from the dealer. Anyway, 5k down plus a part ex on my old merc for 1750 left me with monthlies of 290 over 42months iirc. Skoda offered me 1250 more for my car than any other vag/merc dealer so this was the only real 'discount'.

Still a bit gutted not to be going down the petrol route, but hey ho. Residual value and also just the difficulty getting hold of one (whether Skoda or audi) has softened my view! Audi said June for an a4 2.0tfsi Quattro when I was enquiring in Jan after cancelling the vRS.

I'm putting 6k down on the audi, over 48 months the payments are 326 with the additional options I specced. Car was 31005 vs list of 39950. This would be just over the 300mark though if you went for solid black/white etc. this was via carwow and two audi dealers offered the same price (both south east) which was a few hundred quid more than the drivethedeal price, but they had stock which was already ordered (audi converted something like 300 multitronics to ultras) and that they could alter the spec on. We desperately need the car (hence all the trouble with the vRS!) so have taken a slight hit for the early delivery. One thing worth being aware of is that the gfv does not take any options into account, so has a big impact on monthlies if you start ticking things. The black editions are very well equipped though! Ultra also means you get power boot, 73 litre tank etc in addition over old multitronic which is nice!

I went through Coulsdon audi in the end, very impressed by them too. Never got any contact from my Skoda dealer (although to be fair, they gave me my deposit back without quibble) which was very frustrating.

Good luck with the other half! Mine didn't take a lot of convincing as was so bored of me talking about cars by that point that she was barely listening! Killer tactics ;)

Cheers,

Olls

Hi Olls

I'm just re-reading these threads as we ordered a Daytona Grey S Line A6 but this has already been built and is waiting at the port.

Can I ask where you heard about the conversion Audi are making to existing A6's to Ultras, I'm not sure I want to run the risk of having any issues with a converted vehicle as opposed to one that's purpose built on the production line.

Drive the deal is looking the best but never used them before.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

No need to worry! Just me not being very clear. Audi converted the multitronics that were already in the order system to ultras so that they could discontinue the multitronic gearbox.

If yours has already been built it's either a very late multitronic or a very early ultra. The first ones are due in the country later this month - mine was built last week.

All depends when/what you ordered and whether it's an auto?

Best,

Olls

Ah, so the existing MultiTronics are converted to Ultra MultiTronics?

We ordered an auto (S Tronic) but frankly from DriveTheDeal I can get a better spec Black Edition for less than the S Line I have ordered.  I'll see what the dealer can do tomorrow, I know it will be more due to their overheads but I doubt he'll get close enough.

Cheers

Popped in to my dealer to sign the finance docs ahead of collection on Friday and spotted it in the carpark awaiting PDI

Yep, all existing multitronic orders were automatically changed to ultras as of end of March apparently.

Drivethedeal are very competitive on the a6's. My a6 ultra black edition with some options worked out cheaper than the a4 technik se that I was originally looking at through my local dealer.

Check out carwow too as although I didn't get an offer quite as good as through drivethedeal, because you can speak directly with the dealers, you might find a car already due in that they can amend rather than doing a fresh factory order.

Very nice and a great colour choice :-)

Inadvertently I've ended up implementing Plan B before Plan A. Was all set to order an Octy estate but noticed that my local MB dealer was selling a delivery miles 63 plate C estate for £17950. Couldn't resist and am picking it up on Thursday.

Got back to UK at the weekend so placed my order for an eclass 220 AMG auto estate today. It's a factory order due to fully LED lights and parking camera, so late April early May delivery estimated.

Also got a message later today from carwow, saying that Alex Lawrie has some Octavias for immediate delivery including a VRS estate. No idea on spec, but if someone wants a new one now, it would give them a call.

Cheers

Steve

Run out C Class seems to be doing well with the current deals available, I believe they're running out of stock.

Anyway enjoy it, I can't fault mine so far.

Ahhhhhhhh.. And relax... ;-)

Whats the spec?

Funny you guys talking about plan B's and ending up in Jags or Mercs.

I had a brand new Clio RS Turbo that broke down 8 times, twice nearly killing me due to going into limp mode on the outside lane of the motorway, I of course had to get rid of the car, however my plan B was a Skoda Octavia VRS TSI DSG which I'm loving,....go figure eh?

It's a good job our plan B wasn't a nearly new Clio RS turbo then! ;) ;) ;)

It's very nice isn't it to not have to care about it any more as it's on your drive :-)

Looks well too!
