Do you have a plan B?

Featured Replies

Looked at a Focus ST, even managed to get kids in the back without being uncomfortable, though obviously the boot space wasn't fantastic.

The issue was actually both SWMBO and my Derrier's aren't built for recaro's

I am going to have a look on carfile Lethargy, thanks, as carwow were only about £700 reduction.

Recently I managed to a get a quote for an ST3 estate with metallic & a few other options for £22.5k through DTD.  I'm still deliberating, the thought of the Focus facelift is putting me off at the moment.

Well I pick my C250 up tomorrow. It's not the wait that's the issue, I get supply and demand, I get it can be unpredictable and difficult to manage but.... All I want is a firm date given to me when

My plan B was to carry on driving the Bravo. If I'd been forced to buy something to replace it I'm not sure what I would have gone for, but the new Qashqai was going to be my next test drive.

I'd have more likely spend about £6k on something to tide me over for a while.

Out of interest how long had people been waiting before they cancelled and got money back?l

oh really interesting. Not sure my wife would like the size of the a6....lol was it the deposit or payments that were more or just the whole thing?

have been getting about 3.5k off list on carwow for passat at the moment

I ran a few quotes through DTD using a £5k deposit for comparison purposes with some surprising results. Passat, c class, a4, a6 etc. residuals make a big difference using PCP but the discount levels also varied hugely.

There wasn't a lot in it, but over 48months at 8k miles a year the passat was something like £338 iirc and the a6 was £346 or something. I decided in the end to stick another £1k on the deposit which knocked £20ish off the monthly. When you consider the cars are £10k apart though, I figured it was a no brainer

I cancelled after 4 weeks as really needed a car for April and had zero clarity from skoda by end of Jan and knew 2-3 months would be necessary to get anything else in time.

I ordered 26th October with a March delivery to replace my Giulietta which went back to the lease company today. I was originally scheduled for week 6, then 13, and then 18. The dealer said when. I ordered they would give me a loaner if it wasn't delivered on time, but backed out when they realised how long it might be.

Had a call from the Jaguar dealer today with two bits of good news

1. My factory order Jaguar Sportbrake luxury 200 will be with them by 18th March, 4 weeks and 3 days after I cancelled the VRS and placed the order with Jaguar.

2. Would I like to go to the factory , and possibly see it being built!

Just waiting for a call to confirm the factory visit date...

In other news, I am still waiting for the return of £750 of my £1000 order. And Skoda wonder why they are losing sales?...

Jaguar have also offered to lend me a car for the day to travel to the factory :-)

Thanks thats interesting. I take it every 1 has had deposits back so far then?

I do want a vRS but just starting to think that the lack of info is just so poor really.

Cant understand why they cany give build dates when they use the same iT etc vw uses at wolfsburg. Got my BW for my GTI with in 2 wks back in January with bw 10....which is now..

I haven't yet cancelled, yet to find something I would want as much for the same money, probably hindered by the fact I got a pretty nice deal, lots of options and 11% off which gave me my options free and a 5 year warranty for ~£300

I think most people are more miffed about the lack of info, rather than the wait ... I was told 20 weeks which I had prepared myself for (well best as an impatient man can !) but not having any clue were I am in the system 6 weeks in is frustrating hence looking at options ...

Funnily enough just had a call from Mazda and Vauxhall dealers, (walked out from Vauxhall because they were so busy pushing their crap "care" products they weren't even listening to me) told them what max I wanted to pay (both well below retail price) don't hold out much hope but will make the decision easier

Test drove a diesel Insignia today (petrol 2.0T 240 odd bhp would be the one I would be looking to get at the right price).

It felt nice and refined, firm ride but not excessively so. First impressions I think the vRS has better build quality, but it wasn't bad. Official figures list it as thirstier than the TSi and not as good looking either IMO.

Mazda not yet test driven, but certainly ticked the boxes for space, looks etc, would be down on power but probably enough (looks like performance wise it is similar to the TDi vRS).

Admittedly I would prefer the vRS TSi over any plan B but I don't like the way we are kept in the dark !

My Insignia VXR was an utter pig and I have to say, excepting the Haldex issue, all the problems were common faults across the range so not because it was the VXR, also dealer service was terrible often having no idea how to fix the issues (4 separate dealers). I even got it back once in what the next dealer told me was a 'dangerous condition'.

It could have been one of those Friday afternoon cars and I could have been unlucky with dealers but it's been enough for me to say never, ever again will a VX be on my drive.

I had to email my dealer and state cancellation due to extended lead time as reason for cancellation so they could process with SUK. That was last Monday and I don't have my deposit back yet. I do have an email saying full refund is fine, no problem so assume it's due process taking time.

If I haven't heard by next Monday or seen the cash come back I will chase it.

2 months give or take for me.

I think the reason I didn't look at Vauxhall to start with was I was sceptical about the dealer support. I wasn't at all impressed with the sales techniques either, so I have pretty much ruled that out.

Post pics of the Jag once its here. It should be interesting visiting the factory too, I had a tour a few years back of the triumph (bike) factory, and found it very interesting :)

If they're offering a factory tour, take them up on it if you have the chance.  I do a lot of work in car plants (at JLR at the moment, although Solihull) and some of the technology used in making cars might be an eye opener..  It's a nice visitor centre at Castle Bromwich as well - the old Spitfire factory as it happens.

Ok been hovering watching this thread for a while.

My plan A was to order a Meteor Grey TSI VRS Estate-Black pack etc. and hope for delivery in September. However having read various threads on here doubt whether I would get it by then.

So therefore looking at BMW 320d or Audi A4, A4 offering good deals as discussed earlier via carwow, had some good quotes from a dealer in Leicester, However I think the BMW will be a lot more.

By the way carwow offers on the VRS were not as promising I guess this reflects the demand.

Heart still set on the VRS though.

Been contacting a few vw dealers after getting some quotes on car wow for vw passat estate 177tdi and the passat Alltrack.

getting some big disounts of about 6.5 k off list plus I could have one in about 4 wks or so as some on ships or at Port.

Getting quite tempted now...just need to make sure I get deposit back..

Thanks guys. Factory tour is booked for Monday, I have cheekily asked if there is any chance of an F type or XFR for the day, the dealer has said they will see what they can do :-)

When I was in Italy a few years ago I did the Lamborghini factory tour - that was just amazing. I still also need to do the triumph tour (currently riding a Tiger Explorer) but just haven't got round to it yet.

My jag is due at the dealers on the 18th, I might even get to see it on the production line! Will post some pictures after I pick it up on 22nd March.

E-mail today from dealer asking me when they can phone me to refund deposit so all seems in order.

I did the triumph tour a while back, very interesting (currently on a sprint GT SE after having a Sprint ST, Tiger and Speed Tripleover the last few years.

Should get the C250 on Friday so will try to get some pics up, will need some help deciding if the 'gren glass' is enough or whether to go for after market tints B pillar backwards.

It's white with the Sport Plus black and chrome 18's.

Thinking 23% tints B pillar backwards will finish it off nicely.

My plan B is an off the shelf Audi A4 Avant S-Line with Tech Pack.

I Ordered a VRS TDi Estate with:

Columbus

Leather

Winter Pack

Cruise Control

Roof Rails

Order placed 15/12/13

Unconfirmed BW 20!!! That's today's status

Pick my new A4 up next week

Skoda can kiss my arse

After asking for some info yesterday from SUK, no return call as promised .... phoned again today and as of yet still no return call, not impressed.

A4 would be tempting if I can get one, but saloon petrols are not available in technik from stock.

If only the Mazda forums were as helpful as this place, want to find out how reliable the diesels are (as there is no decent power petrol lump in the 6).

yeah im looking at similar may be Passat or A4. Its unacceptable that they cant give proper lead times and then if they do its crazy BW.

have you had your deposit back? Was dealer ok etc?
