Hello from Northern Ireland

Featured Replies

Hi there. I'm in the process of buying an Octavia vRS estate (can't wait till Friday). It'll be a bit of a change from the 1.3 Felicia that I'm currently driving. By the way, it will be up for sale soon.

Welcome ggireland and good luck on Friday.

I'm changing from a megane to an Octy 2.0TDI in October.

Where are you from in NI? I live in Belfast

Hello from WAY down south, Cork here, welcome to the club

I'm from Londonderry, Derry whatever you want to call it.

Welcome  , I've sent you a PM

Greetings from Dublin!

At last, another vRS Combi Owner!!!! yay!

I think Londonderry is ok for the name of a city but always worry someone will try to put a label on me if I say it. Derry is much easier to say anyway but again that'll get me another label slapped on my forehead. Stroke City somehow seems offensive but gets around the problem altogether.

Anyway, off topic there, that's quite a step up from a felicia to an Octy vrs. I'll keep an eye out for you on the Glenshane Pass. What colour is it? Personally I can't wait to try out the much famed overtaking abilities of the 2.0 TDi uphill on that very stretch of road when I get my car in october.

Welcome to BRISKODA

Welcome GGIreland..

Where abouts in Derry are you. My missus is from Derry , just near Eglinton.

Just come back from there last week, might have spotted me in a Stone Grey Octy TDI? on English plates so tends to stick out like a sore thumb :)

Welcome to BRISKODA[/quote']

Went over the Glenshane pass a few times in my Octy 1.9TDi with a full car load of stuff (including a 5ft cast iron Victorian radiator in the back ~120kgs) I didn't even notice going up the long incline heading towards Derry direction, the torque was soooo good. I went up it in fifth at a herrmmm..'60mph officer' without any effort at all so much so I was still looking for the incline to appear AFTER I was already at the top of the mountain!! My old 2.0l 306Xsi used to protest at that incline unless I dropped to 4th.

IMHO the Glenshane incline is the best practical demonstration of a diesels engines midrange compared to that of a petrol engine.

Try SLOWING DOWN when you just get to the START of the incline then floor it...if that doesn't bring a smile to your face I don't know what will ! :)

hello m8.wot about yea? the more from N.I. the better :) hope u enjoy ur motor mite c u around.will b stayin up at giants causeway direction nxt w end.

Excellent. It looked like great value. I was considering it, but the insurance was going to be

At speed!!  A brave man. I first tried it a couple of years ago but gave up as it was foggy and I couldn't see the road :o:o

Having now driven it on a sunny day I'm glad I turned back :):)

This sounds like an excuse for a celebratory meet! Who's up for one???

Damn it, I ain't a Skoda driver yet. Whats the point in meeting up to talk about a car I haven't got yet. Wouldn't mind a nosey at a few fellow Briskodian's motors though

Got my vRS last night at half seven in Ballymena. Wow. I was having a very tough time keeping anywhere near the speed limit. And nobody had told me that the Glenshane pass had been flattened out. It certainly seemed that way on the way back home. Dropped it into 3rd and went from 50 to a bit more than 50 in no time at all. This is going to be fun.

Excellent! Congrats on the new purchase! We'll have to see you at the karting!

hello everyone,

nobody had told me that the Glenshane pass had been flattened out.

That just what I thought when I went over it :)
