I'm not a photographer by any stretch, merely use my Canon IXUS point & shoot, but I do love LEGO and stumbled across this project by a UK based photographer earlier. I think it's great, not sure on the quality mind.

UK-based photographer Andrew Whyte has documented the adventures of a brave lone LEGO photographer in his “The Legographer” photo series. The process behind Whyte’s photos is so simple that almost anyone could do it. He carries the Legographer with him wherever he goes and, when he finds a good location, snaps a picture of him in action with his Iphone 4S. The Legographer has traveled all around the UK and the world in Whyte’s pocket.

That's brilliant put a smile on my face, during a 5 minute lunch break in the middle of a day of hell.

I need to do some more of these, had a half hearted attempt the other year after seeing something similar but done with models not Lego, and Lego was the only thing I had available!

Simple and awesome at the same time.  Smashing set of photos - kudos to the little chap.

Yeah, mine are rubbish :( I didn't put much effort in as I felt stupid, did these about 2 years ago. I might try some with my iphone like the Legographer guy, that's a good idea as it's incredibly hard to get a full size camera near enough to the floor and also look through the viewfinder! I also found that some of them were spoiled as too much bokeh meant you couldn't see the object in the background clearly enough. 

 

I have somewhat fallen out of love with photography over the last year or so...... perhaps a little project might get me back on it. Who knows. 

 

I've never shown anyone these because I wasn't impressed with them!    These were the only two attempts I made before I decided they looked rubbish, I wasn't very good at it and gave up!

Great pictures, but for that real authentic LEGO experience he should have used one of these instead of an iphone!

Thank you Brijo, I wasn't convinced by the seaside ones myself. I will try to have another go sometime. The iPhone works for this as it doesn't give as much bokeh. I need to give it another go with narrower aperture and perhaps fill flash. And take a bit more time with it.

Soft flash, possibly; but Lego is shiny, which brings its own problems :think:

Yeah, just fill, nothing too bright. Just hard to get the balance of light and aperture with macro!

Yes, that's it! Someone linked me to it ages ago and that's what made me do my Lego ones (as that was the only kind of small person I could get hold of - that or playmobile!)

Love the little people one. There is one of a little person sailing a boat on a lake..... But it turns out to be a puddle in a grotty street!

Slinkachu's work is excellent. I'm an art teacher and my older students always love his work. You can get awesome results pretty simply with model railway figures (available from model shops and hobbycraft) and a little bit of creativity. Makes an excellent study for learning about composition and depth of field.

Wow some inspiring work between the Lego ones and Slinkachu.

 

Might try something like it myself.

The DSLR was having some problems so I was reduced to stills on my Panasonic camcorder.  Fortunately, it features manual focus, though the comparatively small lens doesn't allow much DOF restriction.  I'll try again later...
