Fabia comfort 1.2

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new to Briskoda so I am hoping some of you may be able to help me out.

I have a Skoda Fabia 1.2 comfort (53 plate) that has done just under 36,000 miles on the clock. Yesterday, the engine management light flashed on in orange and then dissapeared again. Straight after, the engine light then came on solid and went off after a few minutes.

I thought that the light had gone off, but today, it has magically reappeared! I noticed the car not running very smoothly when stationary and driving just before the light came on. The engine/car seems to almost 'judder' every so often. The car is now doing this and the engine light is still on (in all its glory). Does anyone have any ideas on this? I haven't plugged in a diagnostics kit yet, that will come tomorrow and I will post the results.

Thanks for the help.

(PS I hope I have posted this in the correct place - please tell me if I haven't)

I don't want to scare you, so I'll suggest typing '1.2 misfire' into the search box at the top right of the page and let everyone else do it :)

Seriously though, wait till you read the fault codes, it could be a lot of inexpensive/easy to fix things, it's just the 1.2's have issues that tend to be expensive.

Ignition coils are a strong factor here, though when they start to go they go completely. They are £40 so £120 to replace all 3 of them as they are 1 per cylinder. Or you could just replace the single faulty one...
