Hi everyone I am new to this forum and I am after abit of help/advice. I am 18 and I have a fabia 1.9tdi pd 100bhp which has a custom remap to around 135bhp, just recently my car has developed a problem, which is high idle speep around (1000 -1200) rpm and over revs when releasing accelerator, for example if I accelerate to 2500 rpm when I release the accelerator the rpm goes to nearly 3000 rpm, there is no loss in power or anything the only other thing I have noticed is a oil leak which appears to be coming from around the intercooler area as it's dripping from the offside front wing at the bottom, if anyone has any advice or experienced this problem before I would be very grateful for your help, thank you very much, oh and btw the car is a 52 plate with 146,000 miles.

Hi, the thing with a Diesel engine is there is no throttle plate or idle speed control valve to regulate the amount of air going into the engine which in a classical sense on a petrol engine would regulate the idle speed, on diesel the free running speed of the engine is purely a product of how much diesel is injected into the cylinders, so in essence less fuel injected = lower speed! more fuel injected = higher speed!

The problem here is more to do with how the ecu is calculating how much fuel to inject, I'm not suggesting the ecu is faulty here, it's more to do with the sensors which feed the ecu, throttle pedal, mas airflow sensor, map sensors etc. do a diagnostics scan first!

Thanks for advice I'll try and get a diagnostic scan sorted ASAP, when I had my car remapped the company did a scan and I am pretty sure the was a fault code for something to with the injectors, when I get home I will find the receipt and update you. Again thank you :)

When it's idling high try pulling the accelerator pedal up and see if the idle speed changes, if it does the chances are it's an accelerator pedal fault.
