Beware of EBAY and PAYPAL!

I'll let you know if the quantum computer actually works for that use case in a few weeks.

Not really available to you unless you are an American multinational megacorp, the NSA or NASA.

In which case hacking Ebay probably doesn't take much more than a phone call.

  • I've posted this before but thought it might fit in here: Creating a password. Cabbage Sorry the password must be more than 8 characters. boiled cabbage Sorry the password must contain one numeri

  • Thanks - just set all my passwords to that. No one will be able to crack that one!!

Just read this morning that not only have fleabay had ANOTHER hack reported, but their password system is rejecting highly secure passwords and RECOMMENDING poor passwords!!!!

that wasn't the case the other day when I updated mine. Fifteen characters, upper case, lower case, numbers and special characters. That still only got a yellow rather than a green password strength rating.

not sure I'd believe everything the Register says TBH.

The word of El Reg is law.

'tis in the rules, BoFH wrote 'em.

It gets better... anyone else heard of the Aussie/NZ Apple Server hack???

People have been getting their iDevices locked and a demand for money to unlock.

Oh GLORY DAYS, I only had a fangurl tell me on Friday that iDevices were unhackable........."and I should know, I used to work for Carphone Warehouse", she uttered.

I beginning to think that "Password1" might the safest password to use on the grounds that no hacker is going to believe you have anything of value in an account protected by that password. Bank account - no, must have a huge overdraft and no credit, ditto mobile account, ditto credit card, etc., etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong  ;)

I am told we will be seeing one in the flesh (so they say) in about 3 weeks. There is a lot of talk in the industry about it and if it's actually doing proper quantum computing. If they are doing what they say, it's going to be very very interesting.

To be fair I am part of that industry, so it's not like it's open to all and sundry.

Anyway if you want to hack encrypted passwords then :

- set up your account with a known password

- steal the database that has that in it

- get a few Xeon phi or GPU and let lose.

Give it 24 hours and you've got enough passwords to make a killing.

One of the most popular choices and 1st on a hackers list, along with Zeus

Set up a password strength site.

i.e.

Type email address, type password and your password strength will be assessed and a report sent to you. Government approved service!

It wouldn't fool me and probably wouldn't fool you but then I really want to hack stupid people and it'll work fine on them

Wow I didn't think members of LulzSec would drive skoda's :notme:

Post count says a lot I think

It would have helped it he put it in the right forum area (I see it has now been moved AND has a reply).

It would also be nice to say hello and ask for help as a new member, instead of giving a list of faults and expecting instant replies - is he German by any chance??
