Souther Mini Meet

Featured Replies

If it's anything like a V8 Thunder meet, there'll be a few nervous hellos and lots of uncomfortable silences!

:D

Nah.......I know Dave so I'll just chat to him.;)

Seriously, know what you mean but then aren't these meets about getting to know the face behind the "handle"?

We've all got a common interest of being Skoda enthusiasts (I purposely didn't say RS as that might be deemed elitest and put Nikc on his own ;) ) so we should be ok.

Hopefully it won't be raining and we can check out mods peeps have done.

I've never been to one of these meets where anyone was anything less than completely relaxed. Won't be staying too late though - 6 a.m. start next morning to make ze ferry on ze vay to Chermany. And I'll tell the SLX not to be too nervous amongst all the shiny VRSs - it usually manages :D

Nikc (usually known as Nick ;) )

You need:

a) a pub

B) some cars

c) some people

d) some daylight so people can peer at cars

e) a camera

f) (usually) some nice roads for a little drive

That's it!

I'll bring me Canon G3 :)

Mark

Ok...time and date sorted.

How about venue?

My suggestion is The Leather Bottle on the A3349; easy to get to from the A33 (and M4 and M3 if you follow the road onto Hook)and there are some good driving roads round there.

Supposed to be good for food as well.

Adrian,

As I'm not a local can you provide a little more general directions off M4 and The Leather Bottle's post code so I see how to get there via streetmap.co.uk?

Chris,

come off M4 @ J11 onto A33 towards Basingstoke.

Go straight across next 2 round-abouts.

Turn left (opposite Wellington Monument) towards Heckfield/ Hook/Harteny Witney.

At round-about turn right on to A3349 going to Hook

The Leather Bottle (RG27 8JU) is down here on the left

(not sure of distance from round-about).

Cheers.

Adrian.

Having seen it on the map seems best to take M3 exit 5 and then B3349 north as I will be coming from Guildford direction.

Chris

Adrian,

I'd love to come along, but...

It's 26 miles in the opposite direction to home, which means not just 26 miles down there (not a problem), but then 119 miles home later. After a 5.30 am start I would be falling asleep!

Hopefully I'll catch up with some of you at the nat meet!!

Cheers,

Howard,

never mind...this was only planned as a mini-meet so no worries.

Chris,

you can try and tie up with Nick for directions as he has to come from the same sort of area.

I might be able to pop along, though I also can't stay too late. Will see most of you at the national meet though! :D

Fab,

you're more than welcome to come along. At the rate that people are joining up I'm going to have to look for a venue with a bigger car park. Not to worry if you can't make it though.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Have checked the route off the M3 at Hook and reset my diary to be there around 6.15pm. Now I have my boost gauge working am looking forward to it even more.

Chris - I will be going from Guildford - my route will be A31 Hog's Back, A331 BVR, come off at Frimley turn - through Hawley to A30 - A30 Blackbushe to Hartley Wintney, turn right in HW, follow past Bramshill Police College to last r/a on Adrian's route, turn left for approx 1 mile.

Nick,

Your route sounds better than using the M3. Isn't the Frimley turn what I recall as Camberley where the new BVR joins the A30 then west to Blackbushe and HW, after that I'm lost?

As I am working in Normandy perhaps we could meet up somewhere at 5.45 e.g. A31 B3000 exit?

Chris

No - the junction before the M3 marked Frimley and Hawley. Turn left at the top, get in the r/h lane and go straight across the r/a. You can go on to Camberley and turn left at the monster r/a onto the A30 but IMHO it will take you slightly longer.

I get it. What sort of time are you palning leaving Guildford incase we might meet up enroute?

Chris

Well - i'm meeting up with Q and we're going to mini-convoy over to the mini-meet later on.

I'll be leaving work just after 5.30 so depending on the traffic we'll see you lot later on!

Q - i'll give you a ring after lunch!

Dave

Chris

I guess about 5:30 ...

I might come along too if thats ok?

Only thing is the wife has the RS at the moment....

Are superbs allowed at the meet?

Cheers

Terry

NO!!!!!!!

;)

I'd like to have a look around one, actually :)

Regards,

Mark

I can't see a A3349, but can see a B3349 on the map.... I guess this must be the right road?

If I am comming from the M3 junc 5, should I go North or South to find the pub?

Cheers

Terry

I am told at Exit 5 its north into Hook then past Tescos and station and right onto A30 and right onto B3349.

Chris

Cheers Chris, I will also be comming from the Guildford area if you see a lost looking Skoda Superb, that will be me!
