Things on the ST front could be about to take an interesting turn...

Power Upgrade or put it in for a Part -ex on the new RS once it comes out ?

So... I am 95% on the way to getting this:

 

 

Which will mean getting my race license, speeding some time getting familiar with the car and then doing some real racing. (at a sensible cost)

Can't 'like' that enough. I got all excited at work today when you said about it. Couldn't concentrate, just had race cars on the mind.

I assume they will notice if it turns up on track with a TTRS engine in it?

Seems like a great entrance into Motorsport. Some of it is televised too and a few of the drivers progress into the Clio cup.

Are you planning to drive for a team to begin with, or just set up as an independent driver/ team?

I am planning to run as an owner/driver in the CSCC Tin Top series.

But that isn't set in stone.

Nice one Richard, I presume it's a 2.0 duratec lump, reasonably tuneable, 220-250bhp with bodies and cams. Loads of parts available. Standard IB5 Gearbox made of butter though.

Let us know if you plan on doing Brands Hatch and I'll negotiate an exclusive Briskoda Hospitality rate, I'm sure there would be 30 or so takers willing to fill the suite up. We could even have a guest appearance and autograph session with our very own racing driver..  We'll leave Taylor in charge of finding the grid girls..   on second thoughts.... 

Little while since an update.

 

Car is still great.  Amazing cornering speed and balance.

Truth is it's kind of up for sale, but I'm not pushing that as I'm not unhappy if it stays...

I kind of like the first one, but I got into motorsport through (aside from living a mile from Jackie Stewart's parents) living on the route of the Burmah Rally, 12 miles from one of the starts of the Monte back in the days of multiple start locations, and near the Argyll and Trossachs forest stages. (all of which is context for why I'd like it best)

As many will know, the ST-3 was sold at 18 months old with 11,000 miles on the clock.

 

 

Fast forward a few months....   I went looking for another.

Even with my fleet discount a new ST-3 was more than the Drive-the-Deal price and I fancied a little tweaking so thought about used instead.

 

Sean on STOC had an ST-2 for sale, by age on a 13 plate.

32,000 miles so nicely run in, plus it has nav and automatic climate control.  Close enough to an ST-3 for me.

 

 

 

In the best colour of course.

 

Pick it up in a few weeks.

Comes with a larger Brembo brake kit.

 

Booked in for Peron V1 turbo kit and quaife LSD.

This will give it around 285bhp and 300lb/ft.

 

Back in the ST saddle.   Had to happen, these are cracking cars.

Yes I know what you mean.

Wanted to sell it as I just had too many cars.

Probably shouldn't have let it go.

 

But I'm going to turn the power up a bit more on this one.

With the amazing ST handling, better brakes and around 25% more power over the Mountune upgrade it should be a great little package.

 

As good as the Mountune 215bhp upgrade is, if I am doing it again and starting with an older car I might as well give the lower powered of the two Peron turbo kits a go.

285bhp is probably enough, the V2 is around 330bhp or so and if the stock engine can take that it should manage the 285bhp fine.

 

They are surprisingly well priced as a package and the turbo spool on the V1 is slightly better than OEM...

Starting with a stock car the whole package with fitting and VAT is under £3,000.

Intake, intercooler, turbo, downpipe, sports cat, exhaust and mapping.

A very good bang per buck then! I've got to get a ride in this car when you've done it. At some point, I'll get a more modern everyday car, and an ST Fiesta (being small and nimble with reasonable economy) may just hit the spot.

285bhp from a Fiesta :-) love the sound of that!
