  • Picked up the RS today.     Obviously I am in the honeymoon period, but I'd like to think I've done a reasonable amount of test drives and owned enough to give me a decent feeling for a car.

  • Had the Fiesta ST back for a couple of days now, since it's turbo kit was installed.     Kit consisted of: Peron V1 Superstock hybrid turbocharger, (spool from 1200rpm, peak torque at 2500rpm a

  • As many will know, the ST-3 was sold at 18 months old with 11,000 miles on the clock.     Fast forward a few months....   I went looking for another. Even with my fleet discount a new ST-3 was mor

Richard, im suprised your not looking into modding this car further.

I know of 2 lads who are pushing over 300bhp in these motors now. Watching them going round track the other week was quite amazing and made a few high powered cars look rather slow lol.

It's not about being top, I don't think, it's the fun you have in it without going OTT and it becoming more of an obsession. There has to be some sort of cut off where common sense takes over... that's me anyway... as for Richard well he already has the high powered Yeti, Citigo (when completed) and R32... no need for a high powered fezza.

Especially now there is an A8 coming soon and this will be sold!

It's so nice now I don't really want to tweak it.

I'm not sure adding more speed will add more fun.

I heard there is a bolt on 300bhp kit now, then you need brakes and other things so you are looking around £5,000 - 6,000 which is great performance for the money but I'm not sure I can see the point.

I was going to sell it after How Fast, but it's such an amazing car through the corners I'm honestly not sure what to do now...

To be 100% honest it was so capable at how fast only two seriously tweaked cars beat it... Both running considerably more power, big brake kits, sorted suspension and track rubber.

And it was still on road rubber with a warranty.

And we are talking about an £18k Ford loaded with kit here, not something fancy.

So not even sure it's worth throwing money at poorer handling and poorer balanced Skodas at the moment.

Maybe I'll get over it. :D

What the ST proves is that if you want a car that goes round corners well you should buy one that does in the first place. Start with the best base as possible. How much money had been thrown at the two cars that beat it?

Even with Bilsteins and Eibachs mine is still far from perfect. I'm hoping the RARB and lower mount transforms the car as people says it will, because the last two weeks I was running my brothers Swift Sport while I was waiting for yellow stuff pads of mine. This meant I've had more than enough time to get comfortable with it on my 100 mile round trip commute with non existent traffic in the mornings and all twisty roads to play on. Driving mine again this week and it's come as a shock that despite the Swift having 50bhp less, I'm able to clear corners much faster than the vRS and apart from on high speed bends I'd say the Swift was a bit quicker. All down I think to how adjustable it is on the corners. If you lift off the car rotates which means you can use this as an advantage. Do it in the vRS and it hardly reacts and will always default to understeer anyway. It's only disadvantage is power for passing stuff.

It's made me question where I go next that's for sure

Such a great car, i do wonder whether my lap time in the fez of 1.33:166 was more due to the cars performance than my driving :D

You still had 1.7 seconds to make up. :p

Although you started at 1.39 !

was it really only 1.7 seconds between our times? :o

wowza i thought it was more lol

I've just re read this thread and having driven a standard Fiesta I can really see why the ST is so good the cars themselves are fun to drive! I can understand why it makes you think about the question of why do we make these cars that do not handle as well faster! In a couple of years time a used one might tempt me!

Yes, I was 1.31.422 and you were 133.166 using a little bit more track than me. ;)

Both in an identical standard car with the mountune upgrade.

For comparison purposes the fastest ever Fabia (without over 300bhp, ie the Mongrel) that's gone round the West Circuit at How Fast was Dave's mk2 with upgraded suspension, uprated brake pads and Federal RS-R track day tyres which did 1.34.734.

Likewise mate, I'm tempted by one of these given Richard's review.

true... but it also cost £3000 less remember ;) and I bet if you drove it, you could have made up 2 seconds! plus I am only 178bhp :p no remaps on mine!

Stock tyres and brakes on the Fez though :P

Dave has stock brakes on his Fabia. Just a different choice of pad

You can now get an ST-3 for £16,500 online.

ST-2 is £1,000 cheaper (it's more like VRS spec).

Just for info. :)

ST-3's are now down at an amazing £15,600 at DTD saving 3.5k, making it one of the biggest new car performance bargains of all time IMO. :) If I could cope with a three door I'd have snatched one up very quickly indeed. :)

That's about the price of a used one at the moment!

Yes, going to be some bargains around over the next 12 months as the people with a Ford Privilege Voucher tend to change every 9-12 months and they lose very little every time they swap to a new car.
