I am in 100% but need to organize the funds - lowering springs, Brembo pads, RS-R's and budget is bursting!

Had a garage clear out over the weekend, found some car parts, fleebay here I come.

If somebody told me 12 years ago kids were going to be so expensive I'd had thought about it twice ;)

Booked! see you all there! :D

I did think about it twice... two is enough! :D

Ha ha ha, same here :D.

I wonder how much "thinking" was really involved ;)

I am also in and looking forward to a good thrash on track and I will be camping the night before too, BBQ and few beers (not many as on track the next day)

Cars at 90db on tick over with the db reader stuck next the exhaust tip and a pass at 3 meters away under hard acceleration was 96db, will a baffle be required?? To be on the safe side

That is quite loud. My Rover reads 89dB at the standard 1/2 metre from exhaust test at 2/3 max revs(about 4500rpm). That was taken with a proper calibrated noise meter that my motor club owns and uses for MSA permitted events. If you've got a box to put on, I would. Nothing worse than preparing for and travelling a long way to an event only to be turned away.

I will retry the test as described and go from there, cheers

3000 revs for the diesel noise test

Hi all,

I will be catching up with Richard at Blyton later this week. Will post an update then re helmets.

As of today there are 30 tickets left for the track day. Thank you to those who have booked, it maybe a very quiet day on track...

With such a shortfall and 30ish days to go, I'm going to have to promote elsewhere unless booked in the next week or so.

So the message of the day is: book today, do not delay ;)

Hope we get a load more Briskoda peeps, they tend to be more sensible on track than random "heros"

Come on, it's only £100 and people are more than welcome to have rides in the Brisk Rover when they're resting their cars, it'll be more entertaining than you expect :D

Cheers, its a petrol so 4500rpm?

With regards to getting more people on track......

Those of us who have been going to the track on a regular basis could do 20 minute sessions together. We could then have a 20 minute session for the complete beginner so they do not feel intimidated, as the day goes on the sessions can alternate from novice to experienced...

Might help to bring in a few more cars, we could have two different coloured window stickers to indicate who is in which class..

I can get the coloured stickers made, just let me know.

^^^ this sounds like a good idea on both fronts, im sure the more experianced track dayers will be happy to advise/take people out to make them more comfortable with the environment... :)

Come on people sign up! Will be the best £100 you spent this year! :)

I can vouch for the entertainment factor - you do not hold anything up mate :)

It's even quicker now than when you saw it last time, the extra 50 ponies from the VVC lump make it rather exciting

I'll be in for a passenger ride Haydn :)

I want a passenger ride with you mate! After so many track days you did excitement guaranteed - need to see your progressive braking technique!

Ok done another test as per your advice and 95db, still a little risky?

I would have thought that's ok. It's typically 105 standstill?

It'll probably be a 100db limit on the day and if registering 95db at 3000rpm on a diesel, it's not suddenly going to yomp to 100db overnight.  Db is not linear so 100db is not 5% more than 95db, it's probably more like 25% more. (I don't actually know)

Any petrol will be asked to rev to 4,500 odd.

Ok cheers guys i will make a baffle to take along just incase

yes its not linear, a few decibels is an exponetial curve!

When I first asked, I was told 105Db drive by at 20m, I then have a note 98db should be ok.

It's an 'active' monitor, to that extent I assume it's trackside or nearby, so lift off in the near to pit lane entrance bit ;)

I doubt unless you're really loud that it will be an issue. A baffle will serve it's use later somewhere else, a 95Db limit day for example.

Open to sessions, if we had 20 novices/1st timers I'd go with that. Perhaps the 2nd session. Permitting any nervousness to be ridden or watched out...

Although I've opted for an open pit, I always found it easier than waiting, or losing time to come in a twiddle something/beat the lunch time rush to the petrol station.

For anyone who's never done a track day, it's really, a bit like driving on a 1 way A road, only everyone gets out of the way and you have medical support really close by if you sneeze. You drive it at your pace and learn. I genuinely used to find for a good few months afterwards, my fast road ( real roads ) driving was much calmer and less speedy... for my mind it's saved me on real roads a lot of hassle, be that points or basic car craft/understanding which I'd never of learnt on real roads without thwacking armco.

In other shorter words, book on, come along, enjoy. Don't be afraid, I'm going round in my citigo. Although I think I need one of those orange flashing lights.

See you there :)
