  • great news i got it sorted out.   in case someone needs to do it on a mac this is what i did.   Format the SD card, to FAT. open mac terminal, and go to the card   cd /Volumes/<name_of_your_

  • Genius - that's spot on. I've just updated my Columbus with a Mac running Mavericks and you do indeed need to remove all the metadata OSX puts on media for the Columbus to accept it. This means do any

  • I have downloaded two updates from this site following there instructions ...never had any issues.

Silly question ... does the update process mean you lose any stored destinations?

It certainly did with the sat nav system in my other car.....

Thanks for the heads up Timoctav...  Think I'll have a mooch around the files on the card before I update then.

Is this a genuine site?

It says the last update is June 2014 !!!!

Probably a bit like magazines, June issue out in May

Downloading it now, it is version 088 and my car that was only built a few weeks ago is 078... I guess they don't increment them by one each time!

Great find. I did note my new Octy comes with 3 years free map updates but no idea how it was updated.

Do I trust the main steeler to update at service time - Nope.

This is the slowest download ever! Been going for hours now, I have fibre and can usually download about 8mb/sec... oh well, it's about half done now, hopefully will be finished by the morning and I can update my car!

Mine has been downloading for 3 hrs 45 mins so far still got 30 mins to go... either it's being hammered for downloads or they have a c@#p server!

Cheers for the heads up! just started the download... only 5 hours to go! :)

5hrs from start to finish. And the good news is it had retained all my stored destinations!

5 hrs to download! Probably explains why the dealer refused to do mine when it went in for service, they just handed me a sheet with the download instructions!

Will start downloading

Well they only have to download it once and put it on a few SD cards to use. How long does it took to actually install though? That might be the reason if it takes a long time!

On a 5 MB connection, using DAP (Download Accelerator Plus) it took me 2hrs 30 minutes to download.

For the Columbus your looking at an hour or more, think it depends on how fast the sd card is used.

Took around 10 mins to actually install the maps on to the card. 5 hrs to download is probably down to Sky's crappy broadband service.

So you need to sit in the car for an hour or leave the key in the ignition that long? Nuts!

It just took me 3 hours to download on virgin 60mb broadband so I'm guessing its the website not peoples connections that are slow, will try it shortly

ok my pc was lying, it had corrupted it and finished early lol. back to download again now doh

Looks like the download has speeded up a little - perhaps less download pressure at their end? We have BT at about 40mb here, and it downloaded in around 90mins.

8 mins to extract and the job's done.
