Gloss Black "B" Pillars

Featured Replies

When polishing my pride 'n' joy I find the gloss black "B" pillars get smeared & no amount of rubbing totally eradicates the marks.

I have found that using "Windowlene" (yep, that old fashioned pink stuff) , applying the slightest amount & then "polishing" off, rids the marks totally, leaving the black panels sparkling - it also  seems to get rid of any swirl marks on them too.

Thanks for the tip, I got swirls from 1st wash,  & I used a new lamb's wool wash mit!

Showroom model had them just from dusting!!!

Nice one, I struggle to get them looking good.

Brasso also works very well. I've used that since the original iPods came out in white plastic which attracted scratches very easily.

Mine look really swirly just after breathing near them. I've so far solved this by letting them get dirty.

Lucky guy, I got swirls and just looked at it

Just gets worse becasue you automaticaly use that bit to close or hold the door so fighting a losing battle here! Even if you don't you can guarantee any passengers do.

Just some mild polish and a finishing pad via DA or Rotary, easily seen off on fine scratches on the black plastic

Thankfully, mine are still looking good so far ... all I have done is wash and waxed them with the same stuff I used for the rest of the car so I suppose they have a degree of protection.

Can you still get that old fashioned pink stuff? My b  pillar is scratched due trying to remove bird poop. Tried windowlene spray and it hasn't helped at all.

Yep - I trawled t'internet & found Wilko's (£2.40 a bottle) and Home Bargains (£1.90) both stock it, normally on a top shelf out of sight !

I used Meguires px and a Meguires polishing mitt.  Lotof buffing and using light pressure.  Took a wee while but ended up with an excellent finish and no swirl marks.

The scratches, which you could feel when I rubbed my nail across them, were caused by me using Autoglym glass polish.

My solution was to cover them as soon as I got my car.

Poorboys black hole glaze - works a treat.

Also machine polishing with a cutting pad and some Megs 105 works a treat. Wouldn't recommend doing it frequently though.
