Stunned Driver!

Featured Replies

Firtsly, I must make it absolutely clear that I definately do not advocate street racing, but I have to tell you about my first experience of a stunned look from another driver!. Last night I was pulling on to a slip road on the M27 with a nice long entrance lane when a Celica GT pulled along side at the trafic lights (not the worlds most powerful car i know, but hey!). You just sense when someone wants to "have a go" and sure enough he floored it from the lights and I thought, well I have spent all that money on REVO it would be a shame to let it go waste, wouldn't it? :D . It's not the fact that he got blown into the weeds, its the face I saw when I passed him, it was an absolute picture, a bit like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car! (I wish I had a camera and was able to somehow use it at that moment, I'ts a memory that will last with me for a while to come and one I wish I could share with you!). I think it probably had something to do with that he had been passed by a family car that happened to be a Skoda and to top it off it was an estate!!. Hope this ai'nt in breach of the rules, but wanted to share my experience with you.

hehe... makes you love your skoda even more eh? ;)

nice story...

Nice one. I had much the same thing yesterday evening in abia VRS, when a **** in a souped up saxo overtook me on the INSIDE. At the next set of lights i pulled up alongside him, he saw me and revved loudly. When the lights went green we pulled off. Now i won't say i blew him into the weeds (i don't like to drive like a muppet) but i made sure i was quiker than him. After i eased past he braked sharply and just dropped back, obviously embarrased. I would like to tell you what the look on his face was like but he was wearing the classic **** hood and cap combo, despite the temperature being over 25 celcious.

I thought Celicas were pretty quick? I certainly don't tempt fate by playing with them...

only one way to find out though! :D

True - I don't think my sickly standard Octy would stand much of a chance though :(

IIRC,one is 140 bhp,one is 189.

Think it is the engine they now put in the elise

Yup GT has 189bhp - can't find anywhere that has the kerb weight but it's got to be less than an Octavia.

Not wishing to be pedantic but aren't this type of thread banned these days?

189bhp but no torque. You have to get a perfect launch and hold the redline in every gear.

A remapped vRS should have no problems keeping up. ;)

Cheers

Its a distraction from love threads :D Good old talk about cars and what other makers have under the bonnet

Perhaps the two could be combined under the title:

The race to orgasm.

'mens cars' would always beat the 'ladymobiles' on that front :D

As for the celica,I think it has been watered down over the years.Looks and power.

Used to rather like the old ones.In rally guise too

or..for the unaccompanied driver with no witnesses...."I beat one off" :)

:rofl::rofl:

Old Celica was great - then it turned too hairdressy.

Just out of interest it looked a bit like this one. (I know this is an ST, but "one I had a go with!" had a GT badge on back and looked more aggressive).

I think that is a slightly older model.

Off to try to find a pic of the newer one now!

Actually know, the Celica has a reputation of being an extremely heavy car, and it feels heavy too...my cousin has the older model in Cyprus which is modded to 220bhp and he's got 17s...and it has alot of torque..but it is so heavy, it definitely feels much heavier than an Octavia.

Current model?
