Upgrading to Columbus from Swing, is it possible?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Feels like I've been spamming the forum a lot lately, but wow, this is one beast gathering of know-hows and nice people, thanks all!

Now to my question, I was searching around trying to figure out if I could swap my current Swing with a Columbus. I found on thread, but that would be pulling necro from 2011, which was a bit overkill imo.

I tried to find out the differences between the Bolero and the Columbus, and from what I could reas the Columbus came out as the most satisfying among customers.

Does any of you have any recommendations towards which system to go for? Pros/cons

And if this swap is doable, how will it be for compatibility with a MFD and MFSW etc? :peek:

Let me know if you need any more information from my end.

Thanks in advance! :sun:

It will need coding with VCDS, but apart from that normally it would be ok.

There are people who say the Columbus is a dated system, and I agree. It's touchscreen is not the quickest to respond, and everything else could go a bit faster...However, the OEM look and feel is a big + for the Columbus in my book. I also say, if you plan on upgrading your radio, don't settle on anything less then the Columbus. If you can swing it, go for a late model with LED screen and add a BT module. It will cost a pretty penny, but it's worth it imho. If you decide to go ahead, try to buy from a reputable source that also offers install, and insist on the latest firmware and the latest maps.

Do you need Sat Nav and built in hard disk for music?

If yes & yes, then Columbus.

If yes & no then Amundsen or Amundsen+

If no & no then Bolero.

HTH

PS: Some Amundsen+ also have built in BT.
