I am in sales myself and I would be embarrassed if my customer told me more about my product than I knew. Perhaps Skoda don't realise that their clientele is shifting from old men in hats to younger, more savvy ladies and gentlemen who want that bit extra in sales and service.

I can't believe they're still building the horrific Roomster.....

 

Considering the Roomster is available from £9,995 there is a (small) place in the marketplace for a smallish, but practical cheap car.

It may be old, odd looking and have a funny name.  But that's part of it's charm.  As a means of practical A to B transport it's better value than any Octavia.

 

Shame the Black Edition Roomster is so much more expensive than the cheaper Special Edition one that's only £9,995.

 

 

And yes, the Black Edition Octy should have a black grille surround like the other models.

But I suspect they couldn't be bothered to design one.  The black grille for the Citigo and Fabia/Roomster already exists so it was easier.

A black grille surround already exists for the Octy, its part of the black design pack for the vRS, I suspect that's the reason it doesn't come with it.

Apologies Nookie, I mean that (most) people of a certain age have different priorities to that of a younger generation so may be treated differently from a sales perspective. BTW I'm 3 years behind you! Lol

Yeh I bought my Mk2 vRS without a test drive, didn't regret it. I would have gone for MW too. Have you considered adding a black grille surround to complete the look? I've been quoted £55 fitted on an Elegance.

I would love to have that grille fitted. Is it after market or the dealer could do it for me.

I asked for the pukka black pack grille and they came back with £55 exc VAT fitted which is a no brainer for me. It's the Bury St Eds dealership.

I am mindful that on another thread a member was complaining about a supposedly black grille surround chipping and apparently it was sprayed!

Looking forward to seeing some pics of yours when it arrives. The Turini wheels are superb...out of budget for me unfortunately. Cheers.

No matter what guise the roomster comes in, it still looks like two cars welded together (IMO) and is just butt ugly no matter what price!

I am not sure about the tour de france however my dealer and the skoda uk has confirmed that black edition is surely based on the 2015 model and comes with the arm rest.

So what makes it a special edition? I can't see any TdF branding or anything... it just looks like a standard SE to me with some extras.

I think the TDF gets roof bars a bike carriers. There looks to be a different badge on the boot.

On ebay its a SE estate not TDF. Check this out..

Do these cars have leather? An article i read said they did, but skoda site doesn't as far as i can see.

Well I have gone for it my 2.0 black edition octavia estate is arriving at the end of the month. I rang SUK and Matt there was very helpful, but said even they had only just been told about the black edition at the end of Jun, so very new.  What swung for me was the dealer said if I hated the wheels when it turned up I could swap them for any that I wanted FOC.  I can't say fairer than that, oh yeah and I got some free roof bars ;-)  (so easily pleased) when I get it I will try and post some photos if anyone is interested.

One thing is getting rewlly messy here. I have been informed (on an email) that the car is a 2015 model and comes with the arm rest. Skoda CC UK says it has the arm rest as it is based on the latest SE however the Tour De France doenst have the centre arm rest. Did you manage to get any information about it from your dealer?

Hi Saurahdutt,  I have been assured by the dealer it has the armrest and also by SCC UK. If it hasn't then it is going to be very awkward in the dealership because I probably won't be driving it away. When I spoke SCC UK, they said it was so new they were only notified at the end of Jun. I am guessing then that the TDF were built and released earlier to coincide with the TDF build up.  I have to say the product information and lack of photos is pretty poor. Sorry I can't be of more help.

That was a great help fella. Armrest is quite imoprtant for me too(deal breaker). Dealer did tell me that the car they have called off for me is a 2015 model.

I second the lack of info on the limited editions however I am sure it will be woth once we get our hands on these cars.. Fingers crossed... All the best. I will keep you posted once i hear anything.
