Does anybody have a car addiction illness?

Featured Replies

At the other end if the spectrum my dad has had the same car for the past 34 years!

It's his only car too

Been driving 28 years - have always owned a car but only ever had 6...   longest ownership is my MX5 at 16 years and still here, closely followed by the Fabia at 13 and still here a Mitsubishi Colt at 11 years that was moved on to make way for the Fabia.

I get the feeling I'm slightly unusual??

Unusual or not, I envy you.

500 miles per week just means I soon tire of most cars.

Which isn't a cheap thing to do.

I passed my test last February and I had my old 206 from then until the end of September and then my Fabia from then on. I would buy another car tomorrow if it wasn't for the insurance costs. Just need more power, I only drive on country roads really and as soon as I pull out of the gate at work it's a long hill and I get the distinctive feeling that I need more power there especially.

Also I want air con, and MDI, and some alloy wheels, and less scratches (I could kill the previous owner)

But no, I wouldn't say I'm addicted yet.

Also I've spent more on car cleaning products than I have on fuel since I bought the Fabia.

Ive had way to many cars, funally happy with my octy estaye vrs :) that said i plan alot if mods lol, installing forge ibtercooler at the weekend

Hmm can see that I guess. I only do the average 9000k or so in both the octy and the Fabia and the MX5 is now really just a toy for me at weekend and sunny days when I don't need a car at work. I get to drive a variety of stuff though so that probably helps too.

The wife used to do a similar mileage to you but she's not a car person so fortunately she wasn't similarly afflicted.

I have an addiction but it all seems to revolve around one car which I have now had 10.5 years and no plans to move on.  I will have to get something else.  I have two project 924s to hand if I feel like petrol and RWD, but 130bhp (when new....) doesn't really compare to 300+bhp from my little diesel....

I used to but like aspman the empty wallet keeps me in check. Most car's I've owned in at any one time was 7

Skoda Fabia mk1 vRS

Rover 200 Coupe

Rover 800

Rover 216 Coupe

VW Polo 1.3 Coupe

Land Rover S2a

Renault Laguna Estate 2.0Dci

In one year I think I owned in total about 20 cars, bought them cheap, done them up run for a few months then sold on.

Now days its just the Octavia and Citigo, but I'd love to get a classic Skoda.

Despite averaging 15k-17k miles a yr, only onto my 3rd car. Currently covered ~9k miles since Feb
