Standard Stereo.

Featured Replies

Unlike most Octavia owners, I seem to think that the standard symphony stereo is OK for what I need. The only problem being that the speaker in my passenger's front door has started to make a rattling noise when even just slightly turned up. It doesn't sound like its blown, more like something is touching the speaker's cone when it vibrates. It's beginning to get annoying because i dont ever BLAST the stereo, but you can really hear it during tracks with heavy bass. Is this worth going back to be done under warranty or am I being picky. Have had the car for nearly 2 months and its great apart from this one niggling fault. Is it worth upgrading the door speakers?

Cheers.

Yes, it is worth upgrading the door speakers. And the rears, and the HU. :D

If you don't want to upgrade the door speakers, then take it into be looked at by the dealer - it might just be a loose mounting screw, or it might be indicative of other problems...

Rob.

Or take to listening to a capella music with no bass.

If there's nowt found by the dealer, then an upgrade is def worth thinking about, the units are fairly basic and not that great when you really test them.

The lead to the speaker is probably getting in the way.

Pop the grill off , undo the 4 screws and have a look.

If you are really not bothered about upgrading just have a look yourself. The grill pops off easily but be careful they can split, just ease it off with a flat head screwdriver one 'popper' at a time. Move things around yourself and see if it still rattles when you put it back together. Half an hour maximum. If I'd had a rattle this is what I would have done mainly because you'd have to book ahead at the dealer, you would be without your car for a day etc etc.

On the other hand, what you are hearing could be just the limit of the Skoda unit. Fair enough the problem is mainly from the passenger side (possibly faulty) but

So did I....but then... Oh, read the ICE forum lol

Thats what the warranty is for, you pay for it in the price of the car, so use it ;)

Mine does this - I think they're just crap speakers when all's said and done.

Replacement is on my list of things to do.

Heavy bass is only something I hear in other cars at the moment. :(

Looking forward to it!

Phil,

is it actually a rattle or move of a buzz. If it's more of a buzz then it's bass distortion which is a common complaint. Solution...replace the front unit for something better. Got Inifinity 652i (which are unfortunately discontinued and the replacement are too deep).

  • 2 months later...

Mine does this rattle buzz thing too, and I have had it replaced once under warranty. Reading other posts it seems like the speaker is not at fault, more the foam stuff in behind it, I will take the speaker out myself at the weekend and have a look...
