Pantone code race blue

Featured Replies

I'd like to colour code my new bicycle to my upcoming vRS in race blue.

Does anyone know the Pantone (or YS) code for race blue.

Thanks a lot.

Why not just get actual race blue?

I have to specify the colour in Pantone (or YS) code. I can't just say : "Paint the bike in Race Blue."

Obviously but why not use Skoda's code for Race Blue, would be easy to get some made up.

The bike will be painted in China. It's absolutely not possible to explain this to a China-man.

Seeing as the Octavia is sold in china I can't see it being too hard....

the problem you may have is, the type of coating they put on the bike might not be available yet in the colour you want. not all colours can be made in all types of coating's. Secondly you don't want your bike painted with car paint as it can't withstand thing like pedal rub or stone chips.

That's true.

I'll try to get as close as possible. I really want a metallic look for my bike (like Cavendish' Venge, wich has a green metallic part)

Are you painting or powder coating the bike ?

I'm going to let it be painted.

I've got a Pantone solid coated swatch in front of me and to my eyes (it's difficult to match print to screen) it looks like either straight Process Blue or 3005.

Pantone is a terrible matching system!   There books do not match each other.    For example, look at Reflex blue in the front of the book, then open the book to Reflex blue in the middle of the blue section...................... As I suspected, they are different aren't they.

I mentioned this to the MD of Pantone UK, he told me that the books "are only a guide" so now in our printing business we do not use the Pantone system.

As for your paint code, I would go to any good aerosol paint filling establishment and order your paint via the code on the label in a Skoda that is painted race blue.

BossFox may even have some paint left over from the Yeti VRS which is race blue.

Thanks for the replies.

It's getting clear to me that I won't get the exact same colour. I'll try and get as close as possible.
