Happy new car Taylor.  Looks like a fine example.

Have to ask, what have you done with the Fiesta after all the effort you put into it?

WEll the Fiesta is a awkward one atm. THe fabia was cheap, but it may need a bit of work (header tank is pressurising heavily) so i will continue to run around the the fez. Unfortunatlely i found a few things wrong with the fiesta:

1)The Seat/ driving position was vastly uncomfortable, i have bit of a back problem (at 21 :( ) and it was causing me quite a bit of pain.

2) the 4 tyres were budgets and nearly killed me once, so i was quite shaken by the experience. the cost to replace was greater than the price of the car.

3) the handling/general design of the car is nothing compared to standard cars 10 years newer than the fiesta. So i realised IMO much like riding a motorbike, you can be the best driver in the world but it doesnt stop other people being idiots. all it takes was an idiot to crash into me and id be alot worse off. so instead of taking that risk i thought id return to the fold and get another Skoda Fabia

4) Parts, yes they are cheap, but hell are they crap, ive had to replace more things on that fiesta then most of my other cars (with the exception of my Alfa Romeo, but we wont go there)

5) i wanted a good car for Bedford How Fast. So techincally my ticket for that is £2000 + the ticket fee lol

If i could id sell the Fiesta to break even but i doubt i can due to how many dents etc on the bodywork so ill put it down to "an experiance" of owning my first and so far my only ford.

Not sure if you are going to sort the headlight with wet and dry, but I got a replacement headlight on eBay for £20 delivered!

Looks nice though, silver suits the mk1 VRS.

Hope the pressurising isn't anything too serious.

Should have it done by tomorrow then!

Brothers Stag do tomorrow ;)

even then i know nothing about diesel lumps, my experiance is all with twin cam or OHV petrol engines.

then again wont be very different. Ill have to give it alot of thought whether i do it or get someone else to do it.

I'd give it a shot as nowt to lose - you've always got a backup plan!

Tonight (me being me) i decided to jack the car up and have a good inspection underneath to find out truely what kind of shape the car was in. Apart from the fact it looked like the previous owner tried to be Pentti Airikkala it wasnt in too bad a shape.

My main concerns are as follows:

Incorrectly fitted Console bush

Split Outer N/S CV Boot

A few Oil weeps, One on the under side of the Oil Cooler which had dripped onto the cable running along the front of the sump, then one on the bottom of the SMIC (common i know) then one ontop of a A/C Line which runs underneath the Boost pipe (see shiny bit bellow my finger) and a very dirty EGR Valve.

One final thing, this looks like CV grease stuck in the Exhaust flexi, anyone seen this before? I reckon its CV grease as its inline with the CV boot.

Apart from that it looks like it has brand spanking new ARB Drop links, pretty much brand new 288 discs with almost no wear at all

Looking good mate - nice to see you in a vrs and I agree with you on the fez.

Not worth spending money on tyres etc when it's potentially a death trap on wheels lol

Progress!

I have Tomorrow and Friday booked off, so I thought to make it easier tomorrow I would start work a little this evening. Problem was My brothers wedding rehearsal was tonight so i couldnt spend too long on it.

But now the parts are taking up the Dining Room floor

this did worry me a little

20140723_164300_zpsif3984zg.jpg

While removing the EGR Valve my super duper high tech 1/4" ratchet decided it was too hot and wanted to cool off, so it dived down the back of the engine into the bucket of oil being drained....

New parts n tools

So tonight i have removed:

Oil

Coolant

All Intake/boost pipes to/from the SMIC

EGR Valve (quite dirty)

Air Box and intake pipe

Auxiliary belt

Crankshaft Pulley ( this was a PITA as the 4 6mm Hex screws had already been partially rounded!! grrr one suffered more so i need replacements!)

Hub Nuts

I loosened both hub nuts as i have to change the CV boot on one side and replace the wishbone bushes and i hav something else planned too! :P
