door sills

Featured Replies

Anybody buy any, I've seen a few on eBay, all for around the 40 bucks mark. I've also noticed my 3 year old steps on the paint at the door.

If anyone has bought some so you have a recommendation

Could try superskoda as they tend to be cheaper than UK dealers for sill covers, mud flaps, mats, etc; they have 20% off this weekend, which should just about cover postage.

Might be best to go for the black basic ones if they are likely to get 'used'.

I like the look of the silver ones but see what you mean about them being used as a ladder. There are a couple on eBay that either say rapid or rapid tsi, hmmm not sure

I have ahd my parid almost a year now and keep thinking abou getting dome sill guards.  Saw some on a red Space back and thought they set it off well.  the basic ones are about £40 and as far as I know peel off tape and stick on car.  If you ask your deapers o do this it's £90 in total.

cheers, i like the look of them, they seem to set the sill off really well.  I prefer the stainless steel inserts to the plain black so will see if they are around on ebay

Instructions says:

So, this means i should put there a simple 0.5mm spacer for the duration when the glue grips?

The double sided strips grip almost immediately so you only get one chance to position them.  I marked the recommended front to back position with masking tape at the two ends and then found I had a thin flexible steel rule which was almost 0.5 mm thick.  I again used masking tape to hold this in postion to give me the clearance in the instructions.  I practiced placing the sill protector on and then plucked up the courage to remove the protective layer and place it on.  The fexible steel rule could then be removed down from the sill.  I don't know the reason for the instruction to leave the gap, but if an engineer has gone to the trouble to include it in the instructions I try to follow if I don't know better.

Good luck, they do look smart when fitted.

I would imagine the .5mm gap is to allow for he slight movement when some one steps on the sill.  If not eventually the sill may come loose where it has to bow at the top.

I purchased this 8 piece set for my seat Toledo, very impressed with the quality, I would assume that they fit the rapide?

Eight pieces - what exactly did you get given there are only 4 doors (and thus 4 sills)?

I want to put sill strips on my Spaceback - but undecided whether to go with genuine plastic, genuine plastic with metal inserts, or one of the many non-OEM metal ones (which do look really nice).

there are 2 pieces per door, they cover both the vunerable edges, as apposed to some protectors which just protect the 1 edge

These sound really good - any chance of some pics please - the ones on the eBay page don't seem to show the two-pieces in situ.
