It's the acceleration...that auto box is phenomenal! It's like a dinky toy...well a slightly more grown up version maybe. And its subtle enough at the lights...

  • Right, this is getting ridiculous now.   I really do feel sorry for Tom, as his thread is being constantly spoilt by off topic arguments.   Can the people involved please no longer post if it is d

  • Ok so here it is, side by side comparison of M-Perf and Stock M135i exhausts. A mate of mine owns the white car, the grey one is mine. :-)

hope you don't mind me posting all this guff in our thread Tom, but I got my car back from the detailers and the result is superb. Super shiny and ultra reflective. The coating has teeny flecks of gr

I know this is the 135i thread but have you tried the Golf R DSG?

If you haven't it is worth a blast just to say you did before you go for a 135i :)

They are sensible money too, not got the same noise but handles like a dream especially with the 4x4 to get the power down.

Yes, BMWs software seems to make the shifts quicker in it's cars than they are in cars like the Jags. There are a couple of early M135 reviews on the interweb, where professional road testers thought the car had a DCT gearbox :) If you go for the facelift, the gearbox talks to the satnav! I'm not sure what exactly they say to each other though, as the gears are so short and the engine has such large amounts of torkie stuff, it doesn't' really need to find the optimum gear

You just had to go and do it, "you wouldn't let it lie"

Do what? ;)

I'm liking the look of the 2017 Toyota Supra atm

:p

I've been and had a ganders at an R...but...and I know it makes no sense but IMO a sports car/hatch whatever should be RWD and have as many cylinders as possible...I tried to like the golf but the dealer wasn't overly helpful either. I like the more premium 'snug' feel I got sitting in the 135i too. It was almost saying 'yes that's right, you get comfy in that leather clad seat, sink in, feel safe.... I'M ABOUT TO TEAR YOUR FACE OFF'

Didn't feel that sitting in the golf...

You probably wont get the back end snapping about a little at around 70 in the dry on a cold winters day either :D Straight-line performance is excellent and is barely any slower than allegedly more powerful cars like the RS3....at least when it's dry and not too cold :D

Chris there is a guy on the BabyBMW site known as TRL (Tony). He's the Manager of a London based BMW dealership and shells out M135s for as little as any broker and seems to have 100% good feedback on the site. I'm sure Tom can back that up. If you want discount form a dealer, I would say he is worth a phone call and a small trip down to the smoke. He also once bothered to work out how much the options cost if you are using a PCP. Some items being more popular and having a higher retained value mean they are cheaper than you would think on a PCP. Pop over to BabyBMW and have a look at the site sponsors, you should find him there somewhere.

Yeah TRL is definitely worth a shout. Very good deals (almost as good as my local dealer lol)!

Think he was offering base spec M135i on PCP for £1k down an £299/month recently. :-)

Mate of mine has just ordered an LCI M135i. Got offered £7400 off without even negotiating. Car arrives next week I think.

560 a month, 47 months including my neg equity. Gfv of £15016. Hmm

Ouch :-(

That's crazy money. How much discount were they offering?

Tbh I didn't really take much notice of the discount figures I just saw the massive negative equity figure haha. Bumps things up a bit.

I am liking the fact that the 135I is coming down in price, only thing against it for me is the size, I need an estate, I am guessing the engine is similar to the one in the new 340I?

The 340i has a new 3.0L 6-cyl (B58 engine code I think) but the 135i has an older N55 unit. There are rumours of an M140i soon which has the new B-series engine (it is a modular 500cc per cylinder powerplant, my JCW has it in 2.0L 4-cylinder format).

Currently I am still on the old M57 3.0 Diesel powerplant...good fun to take apart.

The newer petrols do appeal as they are still the 6 pot which I really like and do tend to be as economical as older diesels and sound twice as good...

Although mine does sound like a cummins diesel!

N55 is a classic :D and I gather much easier to tune up if that's your bag :)

Wait....your not telling me....no....surely not....that its possible to give me MORE power?

I might be tempted with a last of the line N55 M135i ;-)

I have heard the new ones are a lot more tunable, and I don't think the gearboxes are made of cottage cheese anymore?

The new ones are reckoned to be built to a cost as they are modular. Like many older generation engines, they are built with more girders or Irun Bru.....or something like that :) I'm sure the 140 will be a little more economical though :D

quick buy it back :D

It will have new tyres on by now so should be a tad grippier lol ;-)

Wonder if they'd let me buy it back for less than I traded it in for hehe
