Harry Fairbairn is the Scottish dealer that is doing a great offer that matches (or even beats) the Cotswolds offer. I'll PM you the message I received from their parts department. Might be of interest to you ;):)

  • Right, this is getting ridiculous now.   I really do feel sorry for Tom, as his thread is being constantly spoilt by off topic arguments.   Can the people involved please no longer post if it is d

  • Ok so here it is, side by side comparison of M-Perf and Stock M135i exhausts. A mate of mine owns the white car, the grey one is mine. :-)

It a test from earlier this year, but it makes for interesting reading :)

M4 vs B4 vs M235i

and here is a more interesting one still.

M235i vs Ford Mustang

At first I though it was an odd test, but when I thought about it further, I realised that I would consider both of these cars given the chance. Both brilliant and flawed, just how I seem to like 'em :D

Going to a track experience day in a few weeks at Oulton Park where have booked a twin driving experience M4 and Single Seater so will be interested to see which is more fun.

M4 DSG of course, Single seater right hand gear change which looks awkward.

Get driven about in a 430d quite a bit which leaves me fairly cold.

With this sort of engine power definitely lean towards 4 wheel drive and especially in our cool damp climate.

I found the similar M3 to be a bit dull. Extremely quick, but to have fun with it you have to be traveling at insane speeds on the road. It might be better on the track, although I gather they are positively evil in the wet. I'd be very surprised if a road car was more fun on a track than a single seater though, which, after all, is designed to play on the track.

Neighbour had one of the V8 M3s and when he got it serviced the BMW engineer mentioned he had not used the M button and basically accused him of been a big girl's blouse. So he came back from the service, used the M button for the return journey, managed about 12 mpg, almost emptied the tank in 100 miles.

Traded it in for the new M5 so has loads more hp, still got the V8, more space, bigger fuel tank and much better range with the better mpg.  Seems to me be the pick of the bunch but the new M7 with its carbon core and V12 could take that mantle.  Quite liked his X6 he had and he had a hot Type S and XKRs so not only in to German stuff.   Despite having a goodly amount car allowance still cannot identify anything that floats my boat and being tied to having 4 doors to occasionally transport clients I don't want to follow the crowd for a German machine so AU or US is favoured ie Falcon, Tesla or the like if I can get grey import, perhaps a US base one, bit different.

I would love an M3 V8   I know a man who has worked his way up to the V10 M5 and is now looking at the V8 M5. I can see the attraction, but that V10 noise is a great :)

M5 wise not a big fan of the v10 e60 but would have an e39 m5 in a heartbeat. The new m5s are not too shabby though

if I could afford to buy and run a V10 or V8 M5 as my daily driver, I'd be a very happy bunny :) One day George C will buy me one, well he will if he ever wants to see daylight again  (I think he likes my cellar though)

A couple of great (IMO) movie clips, both from Fast and Furious series.  Any London B(*)anker can buy an Aston, Big Beemer, R8 etc and these clips underline my preference to respect when somebody takes something and makes it something special themselves.  Always a little torn in that have they spent the appropriate amount on brakes and suspension as well as engine etc but it appeases my Blue Collar roots.  Worked on a few bikes/cars with Nitrous and/or bolt on turbo kits and at least they are more individual than a showroom buy. Clips that highlighted the points....

And "You can read the brochure" from F&F3.

like the second clip :) Never watched any of the movies though. I'm probably not their target market :D Is George Clooney in any of them?

Yep that's my old one! :-)

So the old motor appears to be sold on. Perhaps the owner would like your old M pipes Tom.

Sorry Tom, this afternoon when I looked your old M135i wasn't showing under used cars, but tonight it has re-appeared,still at the old price. So no potential local buyer for the M pipes yet.

If you are planning to trade your R in for it Keith I'll do you a good deal on the exhaust ;-) lol

Noticed on your first pictures that you have the black grills. Do you still have these or did you leave them on the car when you traded it in?

The black grilles look great would definitely recommend them! Sadly I left them on the car when I traded it in as they are quite tricky to remove (risk of breaking slats etc) and I was abit short on time :-(

They aren't massively expensive though (think I paid £80 for the pair) and a lot of people get their dealer to chuck them in to the deal as a freebee when ordering the car :-)

I'd love to have it.

I've talked myself out of buying one this year, I really need to buy a house first.

But once I've bought and moved in, the plan is to get one then. (Hopefully they'll have gone down in price too!)

I did look at Focus ST's for a bit, but I think I'd miss the quality, fit & finish that you get from the BM's.

Tom, wasn't Cotswolds doing a deal on bodywork bits as well as the MPE?
