Bailey Dv30 Bov

Featured Replies

As some of you know i have ordered a DV30 BOV for my new vRS.

I know you have been getting them from Jabba for around

Sounds good. Jabbasport's price includes free fitting, of course, plus clips and an angle (RH) adaptor for the top so that the hose orientation is correct.

Sir, can I ask a few questions?

What's a Bailey DV BOV?

Why are they available in different colours?

Do I need one?

As the dump valve (BOV) is actually hidden by the plastic engine cover - it does not really matter what colour you get on a vRS (or other 1.8T engined car)

This is a high quality metal dump valve that replaces the standard (cheaply made) plastic Bosch one.

I had one fitted at the same time as my vRS was Jabba'd!

Steve

I was being 'light hearted' about the colours.:D

Re: What is one. What does a dump valve actually do and what are the advantages of fitting this Bailey job?

Re: Do I need one? Some bugger on here always moves the goalposts! I finally get round to the chip thing and everyone's on about dump valves. Even bloody Denis has got one!

Rich,

standard DV (Diverter Value) is prone to failure so it's wise to get an uprated DV. Whenyou come off the accelerator the boost has to be released/vented somewhere...in the 1.8T case it is recirculated back into the airbox and hence why you don't hear the "pstsh".

Cossies have a blow off valve (BOV) which vents into the atmosphere and hence why you can hear the "pstsh" on changing gears.

Aftermarket DV/BOV tend to give better throttle response due to them being able to hold boost better.

......well this is how I see it anyway...........sure someone will correct me.;)

Right, I'll get one then.

No mucking about there. Very decisive, Rich.

Are the standard ones that unreliable, some others dont seem to be so good? This implies the standard Bosch valve does not hold boost pressure, surely this cant be true. Isn't it more like the std ones just get worn out after 30-40,000 miles?

I wish someone could explain why the aftermarket ones give a better throttle response as they all claim. Are they quicker acting or what?

The standard Bosch DV are rubbish full stop. They regularly fail - even as low as 7,000 miles -- the diaphram used is weak -- it can sometimes be a gradual thing - so you would not always notice a fault.

The aftermarket ones are better due to stronger Diaphrams, stronger springs - which give the quicker and more reliable response. And better materials - standard DV approx

Dave,

How do you know when it starts to fail? Im just trying to convince myself I don't really need to spend out on an aftermarket DV.

What do you reckon: Bailey as Jabba fit, Forge cheap as chips or Turbo XS (from IP)?

Chris

Chris

It's difficult to tell - can be quite a slow process - sometimes become much noisier sometimes just effect performance - but as I say slow process.

If your staying standard horsepower - wouldn't worry - replace as required under warranty, however if you have/ or will be getting chipped -- then Bailey

Mines noisier but I hope that's because of the CAI recently fitted. Who has standard horsepower around here anyway?

Chris

Are they quiet in operation the Bailey ones?

Hopefully not Escort boy racer stylee!

Matthew

Yes they are quiet -- but then again with extra boost post Jabba -- you can if you wish get a good old boy racer stylee pssh :D

Don't rub it in... :(

All DV will sound quiet because they recirculate the air back into the airbox as opposed into the atmosphere of a BOV. With a CAI you can hear the DV venting (recirc) more.

You can actually hear a Bailey DV venting into the standard airbox but not from outside the car. With a CAI you will hear the venting outside the car.

The standard DV is upto remap boost levels but it will fail.

Save yourself the hassle and get a Bailey/Forge.......word of warning about the ABD Hybrid DV (part reciric part atmo)......a lot of Seat guys have found them to cause over fueling. I also think Dave (DaveU) had some problems with his.

I picked up a Forge DV007 @ Trax this weekend for

That's a good price Andy.....do you get some sort of discount?

No comment. rolleyes.gif

It was a show special price. Anodised black. I'm dying to get behind the wheel of my new car, it will make my 1.8 Focus seem slow !!

Chrish,

See what I mean? This time last week you were quite happy. Then you stumbled on this post and all of a sudden you need/must have/would kill for some small bit of metal available in a range of colours that will make your life complete...until this time next week.

Yes, we are all that shallow....

(I've ordered mine, have you ordered yours? :D )

Can you tell me where to get a Bailey good price or Forge DV 007 at
