If my car is there and fully remapped' date=' I'll give it a shot. Oxford is only 2 hours from me.

Would my car come under "unlimited" though? :D[/quote']

Blimey Jason ....... 2 hrs to Oxford from Exeter ;)

It would be a shame to lose your licence after all that hard work... the m4

is crawling with cameras mobile and static etc ....... I was nervous letting

mine slip upto ( very briefly ossifer ) ***mph during a late night trip back

from j22 to j23 m5 a few weeks ago

Depending on time/date/notice in advance I may be persuaded to show the fabia's how to drift through corners... :D

Almost standard Octy RS btw...

I'll join, I don't care about racing or proving anything, an excuse to see what the car can do is all i need.

Live just up from junction 11 of the M40, so Junction 10's only about 20 minutes away.

2. mpopevrs (Matt) completely standard Fabia vRS

Defo watch out for coppers on the M4 - loads of them out there at the moment, plus A34 as well.

The one that pulled me a while ago was a nice enough guy. However a couple of days ago I saw someone driving like a moron. And I kinda suspected an unmarked police car (big Vauxhall, blend dark colour). Some guy tailgated this car for a while and the sign 'slow down, police' flashed up. He didnt get pulled over, although he deserved it imho, but whoever was driving that police car didnt particularly drive properly him/herself. Usually traffic is well-skilled, this one was blatently dangerous in cutting up cars, certainly ignoring the lack of skill generally shown on the road :(

If I can make it, I'd love to come along.

I guess mine would fall into the category of more than just a remap

Anyway, regardless of the "results", it would be a nice meetup, although sounds like there could be 50 and not 5 of us going :thumbup:

Damn, makes me wish I hadn't moved to Devon now :(

TBH I dont care who 'wins' it just sounds like fun.

Oh, to make all things equal, will you use only one driver, bit like Stig on Top Gear ?

You'd struggle with a petrol <--> diesel swapover unless you are someone who is driving both at 'brisk' speeds regularly though ;) I know what you mean with it being fair and all that.

Having said that, I've not tried to race an Octy vRS (nor felt the need to, in all honesty) but from how I understood things the Octy will have higher top, get to that top a lot quicker, and struggle in corners compared to a Furby vRS, or for 'in-gear' acceleration if you don't drop it down several gears.

Either way, I hope it will be a FUN event, I dont really care who wins either, just remember we're all Skoda drivers, it's not to be able to point fingers afterwards ;)

From my point of view it would also be very interesting to know how much people (both cars) have managed to improve upon the 'standard' handling and/or performance. Seen some pretty impressive figures bantered about for some of the cars :D

Another point just thought of - how about braking performance, again for standard/improved setups. It may just convince me to uprate the Furby brakes later

Can I go in the unmodified section. :gapteeth:

Oops, Dave is going.....err washing my hair that day, sorry.

Brake tests may well be part of the day, it is something ColinD and I have spoken about in the last couple of months.

LYK - My reaction was just as you predicted ;)

If you can get to Dawlish on whenever this is, I'll give ya a lift up to the runway. I do think though, Phil needs to get a good date, something that doesn't clash with Jabba open day or RR sessions/meets, and then start a new thread. The interest is here for sure.

I think to stop this getting carried away we should make it Skoda cars only

also making it a skoda day may get more press interest

i can just imagine some of the headlines now

hehehe

I would love to go to this :)

My engine is standard except intake/filter.

I think it would be a good first 'track' experience too, anyone can drive in a straight line as fast as possible right :D

ill come along, just for the meet if anything

seems like you have enough cars :)

If this turns into an event that allows spectators I'll come along , or I could do a run and see how badly a 110bhp tdi octy gets spanked :D

this is sounding like a good day out if it happens

Yeah i could be up for this depending when it happens, i'm only down the road from Oxford :)

I should point out there are no toilet facilities and the nearest public ammeneties are at the M40 services (about 15mins away).

I guess this concerns potential female visitors more than males though ;)
