Gearlever vibrates in neutral on my VRS fabia, does yours?a

Featured Replies

asked this question a few days ago and two guys said both there cars did this was wondering if any more do it, when my fabia idling noticed sometimes the gearlever starts rattling and vibrating while in neutral, if you put it into first then back out sometimes stops it, then will start again intermittently, the vibration , rattle, will rise with the revs.

my dealer reckoned it needed a new cable , which is from the gearlever to the box i assume, which they fitted today, but rang me this evening to say it still did it

gear selection was ok and no rattles or noise when it was in gear, my cars only done 4000 miles never noticed any noise until about 3500 miles

they dont have a vrs demo to compare it to, I was going to let them know tomorrow if many others suffer this tomorrow, by any replies on here

if your does it , what mileage are you on and when did it start? any advice appreciated, might stop the dealer from waisting too much time, they said they hadnt come accross it before?

Yes. It doesnt bother me enough to go and sort it out!

Mine has from new Dec 04 but a 2005 model. done 13000 miles. I think I can live with it but it is exactly as you described.

Mine doesnt. ON some occasions mine moves a bit so i just wiggle and let go. It then stays solid with no vibration. I have been really impressed with the build quality and engineering on my vrs.

When mine stopped vibrating the wife asked "Does it need new Battery's" ;)

Yip. Like buggery. And it's only got 250 miles on the clock!

Both ours did.

There is a modification which both have had done and mine still does it.

likewise :)

The later cars are supposed to have the revised parts fitted.

a bit, I get a light whoosh noise when gas is given also.

Mine used to do it but it took a few thousand miles before it fully bedded in. The same went for my dad's vRS.

I did find that if it's rattling pulling it all the way towards you and then carefully letting it go back to neutral reduced/stopped the vibration.

Used to. Gone completley after 3000 miles.

Mine has does it since new, now 11k miles... Will have new gear cables fitted shortly I believe. I hope it stops it - its really aggrovating! :finger:

Yup, my 2004 (05 model) has done it since new and now at 9500miles.

sometimes does it with mine, which is an 05 model 2k on the clock, but if you wiggle it, it goes and is fine so its not really much bother.

was that a joke ?

Mine had the problem, dealer did the modification. No problem now.

Thanks for everyones response this evening, im amazed how many vrs do this , seems strange my skoda dealer doesnt seem to know much about it, guess i was a little concerned, that it was something more serious.

Mine did it from about 3k, now on 12k, and it has stopped.

Mine just sits there. I think its because its not set up right yet, with mega force needed to move left, and bugger all to the right. :)

yep mine does it mainly on cold starts, move the stick and it it goes any ideas on what the mod is to sort it?

Mine did it from new, but the modified parts (a damper weight to alter the resonant frequency) fixed the problem. Now, about 10000 miles later, it's beginning to come back.

Yours is an 05MY so allready has the modded cables iirc.

mine is only a month old and mine does it...

it's only happened a few times and was very quiet -not really that bothered about it :) ..

They tend to do it from new then wear off so if your car is a month old im not suprised.
