Gearlever vibrates in neutral on my VRS fabia, does yours?a

Featured Replies

My own 05MY Fab vRS doesn't do it (and never has), but the (older) demonstrator I drove did. Dealer said it would be fixed for the 05MY, which is one of the reasons I waited a few extra months to get one, and TBH I didn't realise some people still had the problem... :thumbdwn:

mine did this for a few thousand miles but then just stopped, my car was a late 04 plate

Mine's done it from new, now 4000 miles, doesn't really worry me though!

Mine had the problem, dealer did the modification. No problem now.

Same here!

My 2001 (Y) TDI does this. When I brought it 2 months ago it was fine but now it is happening more frequently. The car had only done 22K when I brought it (5K a year) and I have now done 2,500 in 2 months so maybe its just complaining. Will try the dealer and see what they say about the mod parts..

Had it on mine from new, after 6k completely gone, new cable my @r$e

mine also does this manily on cold starts but give it wiggle and it stops, 3.5k on the clock at the mo

The dealer replaced the cables anyway today, but said the 05 cables were on there anyway, apparantly Skoda havent come up with any official Modiffication. mentioned one guy on here said it was a weight to counteract the vibrations, think they thought i was on the Blackthorn , they said where do they attatch it to?, spoke to the mechanic who worked on the car said hed tried to take out any free play in the cables via shims, also the idle speed was a little low on my car possibly causing some vibration, seems to think its less so now, told them im not too bothered really if it still does it, as on idle the whole thing sounds like a Daff truck, guess its like the Toyota add, maybe, I love that car too much.

Vibration from new.

Disapeared after 15k or so.

My 05 model year car did this from new, and didn't have the updated parts fitted as standard. However, the dealer did fit them under warranty. Do a forum search on it, I posted the part numbers months ago

Sorry cant find the link to this previous info. Anyone else found it or am I just stupid ;)

To quote me from 9 months ago...

"Part numbers for the gear lever rattle are:

6Q0711265AD and 6Q0711266P

Ta-da!"

Hi Jut, any idea what the parts were they fitted? my dealer fitted some new cables and shimmed a few things up under the gearlever so he said, reckon they couldnt find any official mod from Skoda, skoda told them to replace the cables and that was it

In all fairness its dissapeared since i got the car back , the gear lever seems a little better, less play in it

maybe some other Skoda dealers have come up with something else

one guy on here said the mods were a weight, to counteract the vibes told my garage this but they had no info on it and couldnt figgure where to attach it anyway?

im interested to find what the correct mod is? must say the vibration on the gearstick didnt bother me much I was just concerned if it was a problem

thanks for your advice on the partnumbers

I believe it is actually part of the gear lever linkage that attaches to the bottom of the gear stick, and if memort serves me, the second part might be a different clip to hold the selector cables in place and stop them moving about too much and causing the rattle... don't hold me to that though...

Mine has done this since new, only done 1800 miles - hope it goes away!

Let us know if your dealer sorts it out (and how).

Cheers.

There is a fix for it. Not an especially technical one either, your dealer should have the info.

Mines done it since new, Feb 07, now got 8K on it & its almost stopped. Still does it on the cold mornings but I just put it down to it been a diesel engine & even the new ones sound ruff when idling compared to a petrol.

Stu, I'd be much appreciative if you'd be willing to post / pm further details re the official 'fix'. The head mechanic at Sparshatts (Steve somebody or other) denied any knowledge of it and said that he had never come across the fault before. He then tried to suggest I was probably just imagining it after reading about it on the internet.

Checked mine this morning and it was fine, no vibrating at all but car has done 57k

My VRS SE does it, week and a half old and 1000 miles! :P

My rattle is quite loud though and going back to the dealer for the new parts! :)
