SuperSkoda ALL MODELS Bonnet Strut Group Buy updated 17/08/14

Featured Replies

Haven't received mine yet, but are you saying you only posted singles to all O3 owners?

Yea, If superskoda confirm there should have been 2 struts I will send the other out as soon as I get it F.O.C if most 03 owners want me to keep the ones I have left as I didn't play any 03 ones the past few days just incase. I sent some Friday morning but don't think there was many 03's in there. I will have to have a look in the morning.

  • Turn it in peeps, Keechy is doing all of us a service. Leave the bloke alone, he don't need, or deserve nag pie!

  • The longest group buy in Briskoda history...... ......probably :(

  • Well, I've found him on facebook and sent a message.  We shall see what comes of it.  Not that me, or the forum, can really get involved as such.  I just like to see things resolved.

Yes agreed. If you haven't sent mine then happy to wait, to try to save you any further hassle!

Same here Keechy, no rush with mine, the car hasn't been built yet!

I'm happy with that approach too.

Ok no problem.

Some feedback for Keechy and everyone else...

Fitted mine today for my Mk1 Fabia. The job took me about half an hour taking my time. Fitting them was a doddle once I'd figured out how they attached! They look spot on and don't look at all aftermarket in my opinion...

I was very nicely surprised to find that the bonnet sits completely flush too...

As for the operation, I can happily report that having two struts gives it just the right amount of lift to help open the bonnet. It's solid once opened too. If there was a small criticism, it's that it sounds a little bit rattly when opening. This is only minor though and doesn't bother me - they do the job they were designed for spot on

If anyone wants some closer pics then they'll be in my project thread.

So to summarise... an excellent group buy and a great product    Thanks for all your effort once again Keechy - your hard work is very much appreciated :)

Received mine this week & will fit once my Yeti arrives. Thanks for setting this up!

Not received mine yet  :'(

Isn't the fabia only ment to have 1 strut?

Just checked the website and 2 is correct! Mine have been deliverd at work so will see them in the morning.

Glad to see the fabia people have recieved them and fitted them well, excellent news!

I thought this too! I was surprised when I opened the box - I thought I'd been posted Dan's as well!!

To be honest the fact there's 2 is great - the bonnet feels so much more stable than Fabia's I've seen with only the one. For the power of the struts, one wouldn't have been enough anyway.

Very happy with them :)

Sorry, bit late to the party on this.

Any spare without a home? I was about to order some online but thought I would ask first.

No sorry no spares.

News for the 03's thou. Phone call from superskoda they are sending me 6 extra out so will send them out as soon as I get them :)

Received mine today cheers. Just a note for the Octy 2 guys I've measured the gas strut that comes with the kit and there are more powerful ones available in the exact same dimensions with the same plastic socket fittings. I'm sure there would be for the others too. I haven't fitted mine yet but I just thought I'd have a look out of interest while I had it in front of me.

No sorry no spares.

Are they the same strut between active and non active bonnets?

Sorry guys, one last question, any idea what size tool to remove the 'bolt' from the bonnet bracket on a Mk3 Octy?

It's the ones on the hinge to the bonnet end...

From who?

Same plastic socket fittings?

More detail required!

Kilen, they do loads of aftermarket (I.e. non-dealer) replacement gas struts.

There's different ways that gas springs can be fitted depending on application. In the case of these that come with the kit they're a ball and socket fitting, ball on the vehicle socket on the strut. I had a look in the catalogue and in the back they list them by measurement and also tell you the force in newtons. On the supplied struts they say 200 and something I think it was (memory not serving me well lol), in the catalogue they have a couple more listed in the right dimensions but up to about 400+ (which is listed for some sort of volvo tailgate with a boot spoiler hence needing a greater force)

It might be overkill but its useful to know theres stronger ones available.

I might order one up and try it compared to the one supplied in the kit.

Mine came in the post today, will fit it tomorrow evening when I get in from work!

Massive thanks to Keechy for sorting this out. [emoji106][emoji106]
