  • Turn it in peeps, Keechy is doing all of us a service. Leave the bloke alone, he don't need, or deserve nag pie!

  • The longest group buy in Briskoda history...... ......probably :(

  • Well, I've found him on facebook and sent a message.  We shall see what comes of it.  Not that me, or the forum, can really get involved as such.  I just like to see things resolved.

Mine arrived today. Thanks for your hard work organising this group buy!

Strut now arrived  :sun: .     Many thanks Tomas for carrying out this thankless task!

Anyone fitted the strut to their Octavia Mk2 and not had the bonnet lift slightly please?

Thanks

Adam

Hopefully fit mine at the weekend and I'll post my results. The brackets have been sprayed body colour today ready for fitment :-)

Still needing to know if anyone has got a passenger side when they ordered one for drivers side? Got a drivers side one here that I can't fit because I ordered passenger side.

Mike

Mike how can you tell the difference?

Fitted mine mate and bonnet has lined back up perfectly. You got any signs of rubbing anywhere from closing the bonnet?

I find the power of the strut fine too. It needs lifting about half way before the strut takes over but I'd say that was just due to the angle this design has to work at, if anything it gets to the top a little violently but I reckon it will soften a bit after a few times.

Crappy pics due to it being dark but here's mine on a Mk2fl Octy, left side version. Was a little bit fiddly having to line the bracket up with the hole that was there for the original prop but other than that fairly straightforward.

Thanks. No rubbing but good to see yours is ok. Mines a pre FL drivers side strut so that might make a difference I guess.

Mike, you need to take the original bonnet prop off and the rubber grommet and then the bracket supplied in the kit lines up with the bit on the bonnet that the prop went through. Mine didn't line up perfectly but went on ok with a little persuasion.

Adamal I'm not sure what to suggest mate. Other than to take it back off and see how the bonnet sits again. I don't think the side should make any difference. Can you grab some pics to show how it looks?

Yeah no worries mate I will do at some point. I have been fiddling and its better but not quite right still so I am going to wait a bit longer and see how others with the pre-FL fare. In all honesty, I agree it is unlikely to be the side, or even the fact its pre FL, so I think this one is probably down to my cack handedness!!

Yours looks a nice job with the red respray btw!

How much did it cost to spray it?

Cheers. Technically nothing as I already bought the aerosol a while back to do my rear badge. Its a poor job as it reacted with the clear first time so just one of those that looks ok in pics or from a few feet away lol

A word of warning when fitting this kit guys, The nuts and bolts supplied from Superskoda are sh*te...Just fitted mine today, Could not get the bracket that fastens to the wing tight enough, just kept twisting round when the strut was fitted and liftin and lowering the bonnet, After tightening and re tightening, Managed to snap the lower ball joint bolt, So removed the whole lot and got to start and look around for some decent ball joint bolts..... :swear:

Fitted mine today, happy with the results.

Looks good, is your bonnet slightly raised on damper side when closed?

Thanks for the pics

Thanks for the pics

It's not visible at all, however when I run my finger along the shut gap it feels very slightly higher. The bonnet is definitely back where it was originally, and all shut gaps are even, also double checked the strut and bracket and they're not fouling on anything when closed so not sure what's caused it.

Should have checked the bonnet height before fitting really, as I cannot say for certain it wasn't already like it.

I didn't have any problem with the bonnet being raised, Just the quality of the bolts supplied...
